โ โ โ โ โ Too overpriced: $29.90 including barley x2.
Taste wise: very salty
Duck is not bad
Will not come again. Prefers the Teochew porridge at Havelock, taste more homely and affordable

โ โ โ โ โ I have been patronising this store for more than five years and the quality of the food is consistent and yummy to me! I agree with the other reviews that the more expensive dishes (like the fish) is not very worth it. I tried it once and never got it again.
However, the staple dishes that I get have always hit the right spot when I am craving for teochew porridge.
My recommended dishes are: hei bi hiam (personally, this store has the best), the radish omelette, braised chicken and ladies finger.
Price-wise I feel it is decent as I usually spend around $20-$30 for 4-5 people. The lady boss (Amelia) is friendly and the other staff are also kind.

โ โ โ โ โ One of my usual haunts for Teochew porridge, their prices are rather affordable without food tasting unusually salty as with some Teochew porridges out there trying to sate those peoples with much heavier tastes

โ โ โ โ โ Traditional teochew porridge with wide selection of dishes available. Food is good. Prices a little high.
The following are highly recommended dishes to go with your porridge: steamed squid, Braised Duck, Braised big pork intestines, Braised salted vegetables, fried clams (lala).
What can be better: The Traditional teochew fish cake (bak yee) is a little disappointing for me - too soft and not enough flavour, the Braised Tau Pok (fried soya bean puff) was under braised (hard and dry). The sambal ladies fingers were too old and fibrous to eat.
Overall a good eating place if you are looking for Traditional Teochew Porridge.

โ โ โ โ โ Great selection of dishes. Comfort food especially during rainy days. Price is acceptable and taste like home cooked food! We love the braised duck & the lala. Please note that they only accept cash but they do accept Paynow upon request.

โ โ โ โ โ To be honest, the overall taste of the dishes I have ordered is not very savoury or flavourful, any person who prefers a strong tasting dish may not like it. BUT! It is delicious and very comforting to eat, because dishes have the grandma cooking flavour in it, IYKYK.

โ โ โ โ โ When it comes to Teochew Porridge, Joo Seng remains a favourite among many people, and for good reason. This eatery offers a wide selection of dishes to complement their nicely cooked porridge. Unlike Cantonese porridge, the rice grains are still discernable, soft but not mushy.
Many of the dishes are pretty good, such as the large intestines, chye poh eggs, bean sprouts, salted eggs and sweet and sour pork. Order their homemade barley and you have some great comfort food. Definitely a must try!
