Highly disappointed the doctor was quite rude over the phone when I called back explaining I was still in pain he asked me to book a consult to discuss my probs. So more money for another pointless explanation!!

Dr Tan is very experienced and skillful. He delivered my 2 children and operated on me twice for some serious issues that I had. I am grateful for his dedication and care.

It’s been 1 year since my surgery done with Dr Gordon Tan and it was the worst experience I had in my life. I had a cyst that is about 3cm and was advised to remove it since it was affecting me (Unbearable cramps every month). He told me it would be a keyhole surgery which only involves drilling 2 unnoticeable holes to remove the cyst but I came out of the surgery with a 9cm open wound. Prior to the operation, the clinic rescheduled me many times and pushed me to do it earlier as there was going to be an increase in the price. While I appreciate the tip-off, I was suspicious of the backend operation. Dr Tan told me that it would be cheaper if I did it before a certain date and that he could get a good GA at a good price. He quoted that the whole procedure should be around $6-$9k. He was aware that I would be claiming my insurance. Everything seem okay after the surgery but I didn’t understand why I had to stay 3 nights for a 3cm cyst removal. The shock came when the bill arrived. It added up to $16k. When I went back for review, we asked him why it became a open surgery. He said that he wanted to be extra sure that the cyst is not cancerous. And that he wanted to have a feel of my ovary to make sure. I took it. Also, my husband and I had been trying to conceive for 2 years. And he advised that after the surgery would be the best time to try since everything that was previously obstructing is cleared. We didn’t hold him to that because we know that it’s not a 100% thing. 6 months later, we decided to go for another check as the pregnancy did not happen. To our horror, the new gynae was surprised that I went through an open surgery for a 3cm cyst and reckoned it totally unnecessary. Even when I told her his reasons, she mentioned that it could all be done through keyhole and he put me in an unnecessary risk. I was disappointed. This scar is staying with me for life and is often seen on mothers who went through a caesarean birth. But I have to live with it now. Subsequently, I went for more scans and found out that I had more cysts than before. I understand that the surgery might not have caused this but I feel that I have placed the wrong trust in Dr Gordon Tan. This month, I am back for another review with a new gynae and again, she is shocked with my experience. I now have a new cyst that is 10cm and she guaranteed that it will definitely be a keyhole surgery, unless I have excessive bleeding that requires her to open me up. But at least she puts the disclaimer upfront! This experience has shaken my trust in doctors and I hope through my experience, it can help you decide on going to this clinic.
