Extremely pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food they serve here. Never expected much of Sri Lankan food. Some people find it spicy, but I personally think they're alright. Prices are reasonable, service is quick and lovely, location is smart (at ground floor of Wanderlust, a legitimate hotel, in the middle of a rather messy area). Portions are generally small, but don't underestimate them. If it's the first time for you as well, you order some mains, either seafood, meat, or vegetables; and you have them with a hopper, which is a fluffy pancake / thosai look-alike. The yellow curry of sea bass is brilliant, as the curry sauce goes very well with the fish. The lamb curry is comforting and satisfying. The wambatu moju (eggplant) went really well with the other curries. Lastly, the chicken kottu (the server explained it to be like murtabuk with chicken) was mind-blowingly simple and good. Corkage is 1-for-1, or $50 a bottle. Overall enjoyed ourselves very much, despite the 2hrs sitting limitation.

The food is pretty good but I think I prefer banana leaf curry or nasi Padang. $40 per person. $2 per person for water (hope it's filtered water). Ordered crab cutlet, lamb curry, chicken rotti, Dal, crispy pork as per pics. Yellow rice was pretty fluffy! Best dish probably the crab cutlet.

According to my daughter who has visited Sri Lanka, she was a little disappointed with the food. I have nothing to compare with other than my own preferences. I found the two curries we ordered flavorful but the tinge of sourish didnโ€™t quite make it for me. Just my personal preference. The Mutton Rolls were very good. Though a little dry but dipping them with the tamarin sauce helped. Service was good. Staff were friendly and attentive and refilled our water once they noticed it was low, cleared empty plates and dishes promptly. Do note that the restaurant charges tap water at $2 per pax ?. I feel it should just be complimentary like many other places.

First time here. The food was very interesting, flavourful and full of spices. We enjoyed ourselves and also really appreciated the serversโ€™ and their very detailed explanations of the menu and what they recommended for our first visit. The duck confit curry was the standout. We were not that impressed by the hopper, it didnโ€™t really suit our taste.

Kotuwa provides a truly pleasurable dining experience. I forgot the names of the dishes but I had the lychee archer, the mutton curry, cashew curry, plain hopper and yellow rice, all of which came out really prompt but flavour wasn't sacrificed and the food temperature was as it should be. The decor and ambience was really well thought out and coherent. What is quite rare even in other finer establishments is that the music piping through Kotuwa's system was so in tune with the overall atmosphere, it really ties in and elevates the entire dining experience. Service was really professional yet warm. I would like to particularly thank Natasha whose service was impeccable. Not only was she great at recommendations, her explanations and history of the dishes were refreshing and thoughtful. Something I feel that is only possible when someone has passion for their profession so kudos to Natasha. Overall, I had a really great time and will definitely revisit this fine establishment.

The restaurant was really pretty, great atmosphere and service. We were slightly disappointed with the food after hearing raving reviews for it. Food was GOOD, but not noteworthy. The fish and mutton curries were too sweet for our liking. The desserts felt like an oversight, I feel they missed an opportunity to close the meal strong.

While not extensive, their menu changes every 6-7 months so itโ€™s always a new experience on different visits. Parking is a bit hard to get along the road so best just park across at the Sim Lim Tower building. Restaurant interior is lovely and the seating while tight, never feels like the next table is too close to you. Service staff are really great and knows the menu well and will help with the ordering. Had a lovely evening there.

We had a great experience here. The food was super tasty with great flavours. Every dish was well crafted and high quality. Also the cocktails we had were impressive too. The restaurant has a modern, fun atmosphere, located in a backstreet, this place is definitely worth the effort to go there.
