my go to library. ? even though the area feels not as big as other libraries i feel it contains just as many titles, if not more titles that people care about. i feel this is the coziest library with the best ambience ?even tho the dim n warm lights isn't the most conducive for studying/reading, i feel it is the most conducive to explore books. idk it's just something abt the atmosphere that provides a really personal connection with the books lol. but yes i love marine paride library!!!

I like this library, but I find that so many ppl talk a bit loud (noisy) and the librarian just do nothing....so sometimes I cant focus with what I have read...

The public library is well thought out. Plenty to do and of course, to read. There is a floor dedicated to children, plenty of computer terminals, food & drinks (yes, you need not go out of the library to get food and drinks). The selections are decent. Apart from borrowing books and magazines, one can also rent DVDs. There are sections covering the main streams of languages - English, Mandarin, Malay (I don't recall if there's a Tamil section though). This is a must go for book lovers or parents who wish to cultivate the habit of reading in their children. There are also activities at the library such as story telling time for kids.

very quiet and cozy. the cafe is a bit pricey and limited, and the food is just mediocre microwave food-as expected for a library. usually not crowded, and there are many places to sit and study/read! the adult floor has power outlets for charging laptops and phones too.

Marine Parade library is not a bad place to study if you are a student. It's very close by for students studying in the marine Parade area. KC, KCP, St Pats, tao nan primary and VJC students would frequent the library. They have a teenage section, kids section and an adult section with proper tables and lights. It can be noisy after school or during exam periods. There is a good selection of kids books for those younger than 12, and the teenage section has plenty of YA and comics, including marvel and DC. The kids section also has a function room where activities and talks are held. There used to be a cafe downstairs to eat and study but it recently closed down unfortunately. But for any hungry students, there is a mama shop just down across the road for a quite snack break. It is also only 2 stops away from parkway for more food options.

I like the cafe downstairs although the coffee is not that good, at least it provides some salvation. The arrangement is rather bizarre, and it’s dimly lighted. Staff are friendly and helpful, but location is a bit hard as it’s not anywhere near to mrt.

Great place to study. 3 levels - for adults, kids and young adults. You can study/do your work at level 3 as there are computers provided and charging ports for your devices. It gets super crowded on weekends so you have to get there when the library opened if you want a seat with charging ports. Printing services are also available but they’re quite pricey. This is also at level 3. There used to be a cafe on level 1 but it has closed down sometime in late 2021. They used to serve really rich brownie cakes. Note that there is a 24 hour book drop to return your borrowed materials. They are located behind the library, where the lifts to Raffles Medical are.

Update 7/5: Marine Parade Library will be closed for renovation from 9 May Monday. They are having a closing event with game booths from 11am to 5pm and have programs such as Scratch coding on 8 May Sun. So drop by before our beloved library closes. Now I’m wondering where to wander around while waiting to pick my son up at Tao Nan School ? I love public libraries … it’s like having so many choices of books to read without having to buy it. The best part about Marine Parade Public Library is this Singapore Collection section which I appreciate that it gives prominence to Singapore authors so that you don’t have to search it among all the other writers … support local … you know what I mean ya ?
