Ideal place for sashimi and sushi lovers ( mostly raw ). Only Wild caught fishes & shellfish are served here and they arrive daily from Tuesday to Saturday. No salmon and mekajiki are available here as this is similar to the traditional sushi restaurant in Japan. They have aburi sushi too but depending on the catch of the day. This is also the only place I know that you can try Seki A6 wagyu beef sushi and 30 days aged toro done by Chef Hong san himself. Seating is also limited due to phase 2 social distancing measure. Reservation is needed and no walk in. Sake is a must to try if you are here, it may not be cheap but it is definitely worth it as it complement the quality sushi you are having Lunch only operate on Friday from 12-2pm Dinner operate Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm - 10pm

Located at Erksine Road which is next to Maxwell Market, this is a small and cosy restaurant. It sits only ten at the counter TOP, and there is a waiting list for months except maybe for lunch. The menu is based on what the Chef Hong-san serves. The portions are very generous as what other reviewers had described, and the special ones are the uni on prawn head, oysters and scallops. Sake selection is good too.

Outstanding for what it is! Well done Chef. More than 20 courses overall - see pictures. Better than many top sushiyas in Singapore. The ingredients were simply superb, well-executed, friendly chef, cozy ambience. Wild caught fish flown fresh from Kyushu is used. What a find! Off the beaten track, in a random mall, and presented as a cozy, tiny interior which only seats 8 per night - like the proper sushiyas in Japan. Book months in advance. Chef Hong is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food he is serving. Seafood is very fresh and Chef presents the food in a way that you are able to taste the freshness. For the price you pay, you are getting true value for money. As good as you can get for omakase in Singapore, without having to fly to Japan for the experience.

Simply amazing Omakase experience served by Chef Hong himself in his cosy 8 seater restaurant. There is no menu, no website, u simply WhatsApp Hong San yourself and he serves you the freshest seafood in season. Even for the sake, it’s seasonal. For $230++, you are guaranteed the highest quality of catch and he will stuff you with a meal you’ll never forget. Service is top class and your tea is constantly kept warm. He ages hjs fish himself too, allowing u to try both fresh and edomae sushi. I’ve never had so much uni in one sitting before, but not complaining ?. I’m not gonna spoil too much for you, but just do yourself a favour and try to book a seat in Meii Sushi. He’s fully booked for the rest of the year, so be patient!

Really filling omakase experience at a good price point. I lost count but it must have been at least 16 courses (with generous servings). I was informed by chef that almost everyone who visits this place is a regular, and reservation is now on a 3 months wait-list. The shopping mall is a little unassuming from the outside but boy we chanced upon this gem last year and glad we made the call to book.

(Visited in July’19) Highly recommended. In my limited experience to high-end sushi places, my success criteria besides the quality of ingredients falls greatly on the interaction with the chef, which Hong San happens to be a great conversationalist. This was at the old place (Erskine Road), we were the only 2 people in the restaurant and initially I was a little skeptical but boy I was so wrong ? The Omakase experience was like watching Hong-San conducting a beautiful piece of music, he sets you off with a couple of appetisers to introduce you to the theme, to the season and slowly the flavour builds and all I remember 2 years later is that uni with wagyu, that is a must try and metcha umai!! Thank you so much Hong San for the wonderful experience, hope all is well and look forward to be back soon!

Love the cut of sushi and sashimi here. As it’s thick and big. Throw the whole things in the mouth and get the full flavor and texture. Be ready to over eat as their omakase come in huge quantities. Very reasonable priced. Only don’t side is almost impossible to book a date with in a month.
