*Was very tempted to give 2 stars given how disappointed I was, but the food wasn't terrible. For this price though, I think you could have a much better experience elsewhere. This was the most expensive meal I've had in my life ($200/person - Fuji Omakase with an added sardine sushi) and even if I had paid half that, I think I would still have left quite disappointed. I've eaten at sushi restaurants in Japan that cost almost as much (Kyubei, Daisan harumi) and those were both fantastic experiences. The pace of food was weird with pretty long breaks between sushis, though we were there very early for dinner and the place was quite empty when we started our meal. The sushi was fine but nothing was mindblowing. The chutoro and a maki with their garlic chilli crisp were the worst - chutoro was very sinewy (I've had better in Itacho sushi). I was excited when I saw the garlic chilli crisp, thinking that it was an innovative twist. However, it completely overpowered the whole maki and left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth. Also I know that sushi restaurants don't place emphasis on dessert, but the icy ice cream was a huge turn off. Sourcing decent ice cream or even a few pieces of good fruit would have made a big difference. Anago, beef tongue, and octopus were pretty good.

It was my third time at monzushi and frankly the chef never disappoints. dinner was so tasty that i forgot to take photos.. The most memorable event of dinner was when the chef spontaneously showed us his fresh delivery of a large tuna slab and introduced us to cooked tuna bloodline (or at least i think it is; there was a slight comms barrier as the chef is japanese). the taste was unexpectedly rich, melty and very very delicious. thank you for the great experience. i’m always looking forward to coming back. (I had this dinner back in June 2021)

I really like this place - Chef Alfred was attentive, thoughtful, and masterful in his food preparation - I really loved the otoro sushi, he made a long train and it really added to the taste. The grilled anago sushi was heavenly. The wagyu sukiyaki sauce was a tad salty but the beef quality was superb. I find the omakase sushi menu very reasonably priced. Try the ume high ball, very interesting. I loved the toro maki with the garlic chips too. Will be back for sure.

Really impressed with the Omakase here. Very well prepared and chill environment. Reasonably priced as well. We celebrated a friend’s birthday in the private room. Shout out to the attentive service staff as well! Will be back.
