Noo Cheng Adam Road Big Prawn Mee - 2 Adam Rd

I’m no expert of prawn noodle but I really enjoy the pork ribs + prawn noodle here. The pork ribs are tender and not gamey; they go really well with the soup. I think the soup is just nice (to my liking)—not to salty or rich so it doesn’t taste like a super heavy meal. Super plus plus point… uncle is super friendly, helpful, and patient. He works efficiently but also not rushing, and he engages every single customer. A rare hawker cust service!

Huge fan of Zion Road Prawn Mee, and as this stall is helmed by the Zion Road uncle’s brother, I tried it as I was in the vicinity. Taste-wise, very average. Decidedly watered down soup. Prawns don’t come with the lovely heads full of succulent prawn head juice that Zion Road does - such a pity. Bowl is also smaller. And there is no pork lard! ? Granted, the same power-packed chilli powder was present. That was the only similarity though. Noo Cheng’s owner is just as friendly and personable as his brother. Lovely chap. I can even see the similarities! Thought it was the Zion Road uncle at first glance. Will I go to Adam Road specially just to eat prawn noodles? Certainly not. Will I eat it if I’m in the area? Yeah sure; not a 100% yes as there are other tasty foods around to fill my calorie count for the day.

Nice big Prawn Noodles. Go-to stall if I am in the area. They also have seasonal dishes like crabs and cockles. Ordered a big crab for about $40+. Lots of roe.

Noodle broth is great, full of shrimp flavor. Shrimp is fresh, waited 30 minutes queuing, not sure if it's really worth it.

My favourite prawn noodles. Broth not too salty, massive prawns, spicy noodles separate (so I can have in soup if I want, or own their own which is yummy too) and big tasty pork ribs too. The portion is decent for 2 to share, but I have what's pictured to myself because I'm oinky ?

Note that prices have increased across the board. Noo Cheng is where I would go for a prawn noodle fix when I'm in the area. Try to avoid lunch hour as the queues are long and you have to brave an atrociously packed carpark. The soup has noticeably lightened, it used to be more intense. Prawns are fresh. Uncle is friendly. Policy of no soup refills is not that friendly. I previously gave this 4 stars but the change in broth + higher prices brought it down to 3 stars. It didn't help that Adam road food centre is small and with social distancing rules, the number of tables available for patrons to eat here is just...dismal.

Pork ribs prawn noodle 排骨虾面 ? Food wise: So jealous of people who stay near here, the noodles were good, the prawn was good, and the pork ribs were also good. Jelly jelly. The noodles coated with their chilli and ketchup, along with a little spam of chili powder, woah, so delicious! It was rich in fragrance of the prawn stock as well, see already immediately hungry. The pork ribs, look at the glazed meat and its fats! The soft bone on the ribs came off easily too! Just ashamed that they gave one big piece only, so succulent so delicious, only one piece, sad. Order one more bowl! Prawns wise, fresh, fat, and sweet! Along with the chili powder, shiok! Two prawns! Either eat it on its own or with chili powder or with the sauce from the noodles, all nice! The soup is also pretty satisfying, sweet, rich prawn flavour, sweet and fragrant. ✨ Ambience wise: Hawker centre! ?? Service wise: Great! ? Price wise: $6!
