Original Ah Hoe Mee Pok - Original Ah Hoe Mee Pok

Ordered their signature set at $10. Came with 2 big prawns and 2 to 3 fish dumplings. Although my order came with chilli for the mee pok, it wasn't the typical sambal that many stalls use and the flavour was very subdued. I would say it's more of a mini wok noodle.

Was nearby so decided to try this place out. This is not the ordinary mee pok as the soup is kinda diff. The mee pok is thicker than usual. Not bad but a bit pricy and should have a basic option of without prawn. Good thing is it accept cdc and also can ask for additional noodle without extra cost. Worth a try if your are nearby and not too long queue.

Wow. Just wow. Super Shiok. Had the signature and the mushroom. Both $6 each. Noodles were perfect in texture and springiness. Soup was nice. Not spicy, not salty but u can taste the umami from the vegetables and broth. It’s not “anyhow” use the soup from the meatballs etc. and the chili sauce is a nice combination of spicy and sour. I had been going to the Japanese guys place down the street for a while. After tasting the “original” I know why the guy came here to learn how to make it. And yes. The original is better. Lol.

Special Mushroom Mee Pok (Fish Maw) ($10) - Thicker mee pok than typical, more like ban mian. Flavour of sauce was good. Had some vinegar and lard. Not as spicy as typical. Mushrooms were firm. The fish maw was fine. The dumplings were just average. Bak chor and cabbage in the soup. Had better ingredients like abalone and fish maw, which went well with mee pok.

Easily one of the mee pok in the West and probably in Singapore. Always a long queue closer to lunch, expect to wait at least for half an hour. The mee pok was different from the rest, slightly thicker and more Q. It gave a nice bite when you chewed the noodles. The prawn paste balls were another unusual find. It was sweet and tasty, goes really well the their chilli sauce!

Always a long queue at this place so go earlier! We reached at 1130 for lunch but there was already a queue. Overall the mee pok was tasty, I like the mix of ingredients like fish maw and dumplings which is quite a good fit with their mee pok. The noodles here are also thicker and more doughy compared to others. Not the best but worth a visit if you’ve the time!

Kinda felt this stall is a little out of the way and not very accessible, but I still made it to give it a try. There were only 3 people in front of me in the queue and yet I waited about 20 minutes to get my noodles ready. My expectations were quite high since the reviews have been pretty good, and even a radio station has said is the best bak Chor Mee. I ordered the $8 one since it was to share, hopefully they would have more ingredients. The good thing is that they offer free upgrade of noodles so I also requested for it. The feeling after eating it was that the noodles were not bad, but not very good. I would just say its slightly above average that's all. Nothing fantastic about the noodles, but the soup was pretty flavourful. Was impressed with the big sized prawns, the amount of bak Chor in the soup and the umami taste. The special chilli which tasted like the a Thai seafood chilli complemented the prawns so well! The fish dumpling was also another bomb, very well done. Couldn't really tell the difference in the noodle upsize though, but we were okay as we didn't want to eat too much and wanted to have something else as well. Very nice and friendly auntie.
