Extremely satisfying meal from a very knowledgeable self-made chef. It’s a very carefree dining experience, none of those formal and uptight Omakase experience one might expect from top Japanese joints. Chef is very friendly and often share interesting tidbits of knowledge regarding the produce and his method of cooking. Produce were top-notch and skilfully handled, with sashimi like saba tasting even more outstanding than the usual tuna offerings. Chef is also extremely generous, with the whole mantra of ensuring you’ll never leave hunting for supper. Don’t be afraid to ask for more portion of certain dishes and the chef is more than willing to provide. The menu changes daily with only a couple of fixtures along the week based on seasonal availability. Definitely worth the $160 price tag ($20 surcharge for winter Omakase due to supply crunch but usually $140).

Extraordinarily good Japanese food. Highly recommended. Make sure you book as soon as seats come out. Food goes great with a sake pairing.

Waste of time and money. A chef who talks incessantly in such a boastful manner but the food he serves is subpar. Yes I know he ages the fish blah blah blah and I've had it at Ashino but his version is very fishy in an unpleasant manner. Even though my meal was a birthday treat and I didn't pay for it, I still felt it was overpriced and grossly underwhelming. Nothing amazing was served. I was still hungry at 10pm waiting for this promised amazing claypot rice which was the biggest disappointment of the night. The rice wasn't cooked! How can any Asian chef screw up cooking rice? Look at the photos I took of that dinner - absolutely dismal. Spend your money at a credible Japanese restaurant and get a real omakase experience from an actual chef who only speaks when necessary. For that amount you'll at least see uni, some toro, maybe an oyster or maybe a scallop. For everyone who raves about Ovenbird, I'm appalled. I can get a better meal at Sushi Tei or Itacho.

Omakase at its finest and freshest. You don't have to pay for the Michelin stars but you get similar levels of execution and freshness. Chef Jeffrey does his own aging and concoctions, including his own soy sauce. Everything is well-paced and the evening unfolded in an enjoyable, educational manner. Chef is extremely knowledgeable and willing to share, which adds to the experience. Will totally visit again!

The best kept secret in Singapore. Food is extraordinarily good, portion are generous, price is wallet friendly for the quality. Really cannot ask for more. Chef is very passionate about his food and what he is serving and make an effort to explain a lot about the menu and the cooking method. It was pure bliss eating here. Will return soon as long as I can get a reservation!

I was so fortunate to be able to attend this dinner reservation only because a friend couldn't. She said getting a seat in this restaurant is like winning a lottery ticket and because she didn't want it to go to waste, she asked me to attend in her stead. I'm so glad I went because it's one dining experience I will never forget. Although it was omasake, it was a very casual, chill and homely dining experience. Chef Jeffery is a very hospitable host and dining at his restaurant felt like dining at a friend's home, and that friend was always ensuring that you've had your fill. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his craft and he took the time to explain where he sourced his ingredients from and how he prepared the food. All the ingredients (talking about ingredients here, not the final product) used to make each item were very new to me. The textures of the ingredients were not only intriguing (in a good way of course), but were also very fresh. I'm a very health conscious eater and the menu has more than satisfied my protein targets. It feels wholesome and nutritious and everything was so tasty. It checks all my boxes! The one item that remains etched on my memory is the Grilled Sea Bream Milt (Madai Shirako Kushiyaki). It tasted like oyster but richer than oyster. To be honest, I don't eat exotic stuff much and when I found out what Milt was, I was shocked! It was actually the seminal fluid of fish. Nonetheless, it was still good to me because I'm an oyster lover. I shan't go through each item on the menu. I think the pictures speak for itself. And trust me when I say the ingredients are fresh. To sum up 1. Friendly host 2. Fresh, good quality ingredients which undoubtly produced delicious food 3. I left feeling full 4. At $148 per pax, it's more than reasonable considering points 1 to 3.

An absolutely must-visit restaurant in singapore - have been waiting to come here for nearly 6 months and I finally got to enjoy Chef Jeffrey’s craft with eclectic Japanese produce. Chef is also a natural storyteller so you get to learn a lot about Japanese ingredients through the evening. Even when he was just by himself, we felt well taken care of!
