★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An agency whose justification of its own existence to help make transport fares affordable is just a sorry excuse to keep public transport operators profitable at the expense of the commuters.
Public transport as a public service should be provided cheap or even free and the cost should be borne by progressive taxes to level the playing field for low income earners to climb up the social ladder.
In Singapore, we have it reversed with commoners paying bulk of taxes through GST and high income earners getting subsidies from government transfers through business grants and tax rebates.
