Good school with only one problem which is a Chinese teacher called Wu lao Shi who teaches boring

I am a Secondary Four student who is studying at this school this year. I entered this school as part of the Secondary One batch of 2016. As there is a new principal now, a lot of new changes were made. For example, Secondary One students last year and this year have to start wearing black shoes and black socks. Previously, we were able to wear black, blue, white and grey coloured shoes. The facilities that Riverside offers is kept in good condition. For example, students and canteen vendors help to clean the canteen after recess and school respectively. The classrooms are cleaned by the school cleaners every morning before school starts. Some of our facilities are an air-conditioned hall, an indoor sports hall, a synthetic field and a 'Virtual Reality' room. Riverside's curriculum is also such that we have two programmes. Our Applied Learning Programme is 'Global Citizenship Education through Critical Social Inquiry' while our Lifelong Learning Programme is 'Arts for Life'. Basically, in the ALP programme, we had two periods every week where we discussed current topics. As part of our LLP, some students were allowed to paint on some spots in our school. There are also many appointments in which you can serve as a Student Leader. After all, one of our niches is in Student Leadership. We have the Student Council, which I am part of, which regularly holds events inside and outside school. Also, we have the Character and Citizenship Education Champs, Sports Leader Committee, Class Committee and CCA Committee. All of these reasons are probably why we're regarded as the "best school in Woodlands". However, I beg to differ for some areas. For example, the rule for new Secondary Ones to wear black shoes and black socks and changes in Healthy Lifestyle periods from running outside school to aerobic classes inside school are some rules that students have frowned upon as they claim that student leaders did not ask for feedback. (which as far as I know, is true) Another move to increase school dismissal time from 1.30pm to 2.15pm was also frowned upon. I visited Riverside Secondary School recently this week for a Cultural Exchange Program from India. We received a very warm welcome from the school. Riversidians are very friendly and smart. The school has a VR room which is used for educational purposes!! The educational system is very nice and the teachers are friendly and helpful. My experience was amazing and would recommend it to the people who live in Singapore.???

I just graduated from this school as a Sec 4 student. To be honest, i didnt expect much at first cuz I did not make an informed choice when selecting my secondary school and just chose a school that was close to my T-score. I would have to say that I am very surprised at how good this school is. The teachers make this school extraordinary. For the language department, we have skilled English teachers who are strategic when it comes to planning of lessons, distribution of assignments, etc. I was lucky to have a passionate HCL teacher whose tips have helped me improve my chinese standards really quickly. Most of the teachers here truly care for their students. They do not judge students based on past performances and are willing to help every child reach their fullest potential. I have lost count of the number of times I have consulted my subject teachers after school. I am truly grateful for the teachers here who are life-changers, advisors and counsellors. I was also blessed to have a skilled history teacher who explains concepts well. She knows how to motivate her students and prep them for national exams. Facilities are pretty well-maintained. To conclude, it was truly a blessing to spend 4 years in this place. Im really attached to this place and hope that the next batch of students would enjoy their secondary school life like I did. :) -2020 Sec 4 Student

I studied here. I was blessed to have caring and helpful teachers who never gave up on me and my class even if we seemed playful or neglectful of our studies. The school offers the Principle of Accounts (POA) subject back when I was a student, and the POA teacher there was extremely helpful and guided us when we made mistakes. I will always remember his name. The range of CCAs here are typical of a neighbourhood school. You have the uniformed groups, band, dances and some other interest clubs. Overall a good school that left me indelible memories. But not all teachers here are as caring and helpful as the ones I’ve been blessed with. :)

i’m currently studying here . the school is very fun . there are kind and caring teachers that will teach us slowly so we dont feel so stress out . during exam period , they will give their best to make sure we pass our exams with flying colours . they even will check up with their students to make sure they are okay and stuff . the school programs is very fun and exciting . even though now the covid situation is worse , they will make sure us students get to experience different activities even with the SMM thing going on . overall i did not regret my decision in choosing riverside as my secondary school . we aren’t what we look like , we are actually nice caring students . we are all not the same .
