Shen Li Restaurant - 137 Tampines St. 11

My favourite place to have zi char. Wok hey flavour is very prominent in every dish yet still retaining the unique flavours of its dish. My usual orders are the salted fish fried rice, hometown pork (Roasted pork with dark sauce and sugar) and naibai vegetable with garlic. Very homely taste and have very nice chilli.

Priced like 2 Chefs, tastes like 1 Chef. The lack of wok hei and underwhelming food is eclipsed only by their inefficiency and hence, the long wait. Blueberry pork sounds good on paper but execution is sloppy and in a blind test I’d have guessed it was day-old pork rib with golden syrup. A poor attempt to be different, while forgetting the basics of what good zi char should offer. Kang kong was much more “stems” than I’m accustomed to, and stems trap more oil, and as a result every bite was exceedingly greasy and cloying, without the complementary flavour. Come here only if you have no taste or have no choice. Far better to just pop over to Street 11, and thank me later.

A bit inconsistent, especially the prawn rolls. first visit was very nice with the prawn rolls. And the Assam Fish head was phenomenal, the assam fragance was very nice. But 2nd visit the prawn rolls were ALL BADLY burnt and hardly any meat left to eat - they did not even bother to replace it and still served it. very disappointed. the patin bbq fish was so-so not much taste. i think the chefs cooking is inconsistent.

their coffee pork was the best to be, but prices have gone up, size of each piece has gotten smaller… the sambal kang king is still delicious

Affordable and occasionally well-cooked. Waiting times can differ.

Shenli is one of the places I would travel far for. Their hometown pork is amazingly caramelised and crispy. The fried rice is amazing fragrant and one of the best zhi char places I’ve been.

Another good zi char option in my neighbourhood. The tender succulent pork chop slice is chargeable by per piece, $3 each. Overall, the dishes are good & food is served really quick & fast.

Ever since covid start, did not visit them. Really love their Claypot touhua, chicken wing, blueberry porkchop, cabbage dried scallop .. ????
