Sheng Kee Traditional Chicken Rice - 70 Zion Rd

This place is underrated. Succulent chicken. Flavorful rice. Could eat this everyday (I almost do)

I spent $7.30 on a packet of chicken rice - asked for chicken thigh and added chicken thigh meat and an egg. What I got? Pathetic few pieces and so much bone. I barely had any meat! Will never patronise anymore.

This chicken rice stall is underrated imo. I was reluctant to purchase my dinner from this stall as I wanted to try the other highly rated stalls around instead. However, I decided to give this chicken rice a shot since there was no queue. This stall maintained the price of $3.50/plate even though there was limited supply of fresh chicken in Singapore. The portion of chicken they gave seemed to be more than what I usually get from other stalls (they gave 2 layers of chicken breast). They only had roasted chicken left, which was pretty dry. However, their rice and soup was one of the best I’ve ever tasted in my life. The latter was more herbal-y rather than chicken-y which was nice. The rice was not too hard nor oil, and tasted really fragrant. I’d totally drive back here for the chicken rice again.

Not sure because I was too hungry but being 33 years living in Singapore, I must say this one of the best if not the best chicken rice I ever had. Totally agreed that this place is underrated. Rice is coated perfectly with a good layer of oil. Chicken is succulent yet still stringy. Chicken skin is a perfectly golden (with a good concentration of saltiness) and auntie is also super friendly. Didn’t take a picture so it’s just an empty plate of it ?.
