โ โ โ โ โ Dry and soup BKT were really good! Fast service from friendly staff and not to mention the pork meat was very tender and flavourful.
A great eatery that serves more than just good food but itโs a place that gives ex-convicts a second chance ????

โ โ โ โ โ I really like the food here. So does everyone else whom I have fed from the food here: dine in and/or take-away. And apparently, they do food deliveries, too. To dine in, just walk in. No reservations needed.
The Bak Kut Teh is delicious and has a lovely stock while the meat is fall-off-the-bone tender. They are also well known for their Dry Version of Bak Kut Teh which is very popular... VERY. ?
The Pork Knuckle (or Tu-kar in Hokkien) has a lovely, rich gravy which flavours the rice nicely.
The Liver served in a claypot is tender and retains its juciness and sweetness. (To be sure, this can only be attained if the meat is slightly pink on the inside when eaten.)
For those who want some plant-based foods to complete the meal, there is a whole host or accompaniments to choose from. Some of the favourites include servings of Braised Peanuts, Braised Salted Vegetables, Fried Bean Curd Skins and several other versions of Soy Bean (Tau Kwa comes as a solid brick which has its own comforting sweetness and Tau Pok... the spongy one that absorbs most liquids.)
Tau Kee (dried bean curd skins) is meant to be soaked in the soup/gravy to be enjoyed.
There are so many dishes that I have to admit I have not tried them all. Still, the main dishes always feel like a delectable and conforting party in my mouth.
To finish off, the drinks are nice and refreshing, too.
Good food and a nice, laid-back ambience. We like that it has cool, covered outdoor seating no matter the weather. The furniture reminds me of those Chinese Period Deamas where you sit at an inn and call the waiter "Xiao-er" but this one comes with an ipad to take your order.
Not least of all, this place supports the Yellow Ribbon Project. It gives ex-offenders a chance to be gainfully employed and support their loved ones.
I first chanced upon it many years ago when it first opened and we had a chance to hear the conversion story from the boss' mouth. You can read/see some of it when you are there. The wall-paper shows snippets of articles and photos charting their success.
Thank you, Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh, for the lovely experience every time. ?

โ โ โ โ โ The food was good. However, the service was a letdown. There's this staff member who is short and elderly, with a left eye injury. He was nasty and ignored me for more than 10 minutes while I stood in front of the counter to order. When I approached him, he gave me a rude reaction and said that if I wanted to dine in, I should just sit at my table and wait. He also asked why I didn't do takeout instead. Rice is quite pricey, costing $1.30 each bowl, plus there is a 10% service charge.

โ โ โ โ โ I'm not a fan of SG's BKT, but this falls in between a good mix of MY and SG. It's better than the Jalan Kayu branch too! The dried bkt is really flavourful and the sauce is thick, falling within expectations. It was more savory than anything else I've ordered. The braised intestines were alright.

โ โ โ โ โ Service was prompt. Came around 6.30pm, small crowd all ordering at the same time. A little understaffed, so if you cannot wait you can choose to order through QR code.
Order the soup and dry bak kut teh. The soup was tasty, we immediately asked for refilled less than a minute it was set on the table.
The dry bak kut teh was interesting, it had ingredients like dried squid slices and dried chilli. The meat wasn't as good as the one in soup but we kind of expected that. The fried dough fritters were good to go with the dry bak kut teh sauce.
All in all a good experience.

โ โ โ โ โ The Bak Kut Teh is quite decent over here with okay service. There are variety dishes which can go along well with the Bak Kut Teh. One room of improvement would be the temperature of the soup. It is a bit cold , not warm enough. ?

โ โ โ โ โ Herbal based Bak Kut Teh, served in a claypot. Broth was filled with herbal flavours and had slight sweetness. Their Dried Bak Kut Teh was the standout from the rest. Coated in a dark gravy, the pork ribs were cooked till tender and were bursting with flavours. Tasted good and their prices were reasonable too.
