挡不住麻辣香锅 Super Shiok Mala Fragrant Hotpot - 496 North Bridge Rd

这里的麻辣香锅非常地好吃，柜台服务也细心。麻辣香锅里的花生经过处理后非常地香，不是把生花生直接放进去炒。好吃！值得一试！

Very friendly and local mala

Located within Jin Jin Eating House, opposite Bugis Junction. This eatery has both indoor and outdoor seating (with fan), with majority of its seats being located on the upper floor. Air conditioning of the upper floor is relatively strong and helps to counter the heat from your Mala. This stall is fully self-served. You pick your own ingredients depending on your dish and portion preferences. A buzzer is also issued for self collection. I ordered my Mala dry (干锅) at medium spice level (中辣). It arrived in a wide bowl which somehow helped preserve the heat for longer and was much easier to mix and pick out ingredients. The Mala was reasonably spicy for a medium spiced portion. The dried chilli here are cut much smaller, which is more difficult to avoid for those who are trying to pick them out. You may want to order less spicy in that case. Flavours are reasonably balanced and not too oily, but still relatively fragrant and numbing. However, my partner and I found it surfeiting (or jelak) after some time, which was unusual. I think we did enjoy ourselves, but I don’t think I will crave for this Mala in particular. It wasn’t special and it is the priciest I’ve had so far. That said, if I’m looking for my Mala fix whilst in town, this is the one I’ll go to, or at least for now.
