Xiangcao Yunnan Original Ecology Hotpot 香草香草云南原生态火锅 - 494 North Bridge Rd

I have been a fan of Xiangcao Yunnan Original Ecology from when it was a 2 storey restaurant on Liang Seah street. I was SO SO excited when I saw that the restaurant was reopening at North Bridge Road and promptly went down even though it's still in soft launch phase. Note that a copycat has sprung up at the old location, so don't mix up the restaurants. The new restaurant is even better than before: - High quality FRESH meat like Indonesian pork and beef that isn't overly fatty - Wide selection of mushrooms (duh, their specialty) and the kungfu noodles are still 50c/serving - Mala, mushroom and tomato soups are consistently excellent - rich, flavorful but not oily and definitely no MSG. Prices are still value-for-money but it's now a 1 storey restaurant so best not to visit at peak hours. We went on a Sunday evening, left our names on the wait list at 7pm for a table at 8pm and we got one promptly at 8pm with the front door uncle giving me a call on my HP. Really appreciate the service and can't wait to return regularly again!

I have tried xiao cao xiang at toa payoh before and I think it was nice and affordable. When they closed and xiangcao reopened, I was sad but happy that the legacy continue. I saw the menu in their Facebook for that price makes me happy and I went. However, sad to learn that it is only for premium buffet and the price is quite significant. xiao cao xiang seems to have offered better ingredient at a lower price. Please update your menu items and price clearly. It is very misleading Also, do indicate the soup charges in your online menu. To response to owner: My issue is that online, you mentioned it was $26.80++ but show the premium buffet items. It is very misleading and would be better if you include both menu pricing and its respective menu as I mentioned

Relocated here not too long ago, hotpot is great, can choose to go for buffet or ala carte style, the staffs are friendly, a lady checked and offered us water

Great food, excellent customer service and nice ambience! Our group had the mushroom, tomato and spicy (didn’t try) broths. Both the mushroom and tomato base were very nice! Strong flavour and much better than other places I’ve been to recently. The different meats, meatballs, mushroom, prawns, fish, etc were fresh and just nice. Never enjoyed hotpot this much. I only realised at the end that our friend chose the premium top-up. Should have tried more of the great stuff. Can’t wait to go back to try the normal buffet. The staff were also friendly and accommodating. We went on a not so busy (2-3 tables were free) night and we got up to leave before the 90 mins was up. But one of the kind staff stopped us and told us we can still hang around and chit chat and maybe have more fruit/ice cream since there were still a couple of tables free. Talk about hospitality!

Very fresh ingredients. Staff were friendly and very approachable too. Will definitely be back to try their other soup bases. Mushroom soup and herbal soup hands down the best soup bases in Sg. If you are not a meat lover, standard menu is more than enough. Tender beef and prawns are superb! Friend said mussels are really good too.

another hotpot place in bugis. go for the premium option ($43.80++ Mon-Thur, $46.80++ Fri-Sun) instead of the normal one ($26.80++ Mon-Thur, $29.80++ Fri-Sun). the black pig, premium beef and premium lamb were amazing and tasted much better than the regular ones. the premium option also comes with 1 mushroom platter, and the mushrooms are specially imported from Yunnan. we went for the mala, mushroom and green chili soup. green chili soup was actually slightly more spicy than the mala! side dishes were unremarkable. fried crispy pork was pretty tasteless. we basically just ordered whatever was on the premium side and ignored the regular side except for some cheese tofu and cheese sausages. the premium seafood had bamboo clams too!

Service A+ Food A Was worth it. It’s a pity the place is smaller than the former TPY outlet BUT the excellent service made up for it. Staff was attentive and pretty quick in fulfilling orders. Will visit again.

This is such a cute little hotpot place!!! We had the buffet. Ordered the dory fish, prawns, beef among others. It was so fresh! The soups were delicious. We downed the food quickly before we could took any photos. Service was great! Will come back again!
