Tampines

The East West Line station is not linked to the Downtown line’s, hence, passengers are required to exit the former station in order to enter the latter station, or vice versa. It is considered a "valid transfer" as long as it does not exceed fifteen minutes. Passengers are not allowed to top up the travel card at any side to enjoy the same discount. A similar situation exists at Newton MRT station and Bukit Panjang MRT/LRT station. Tampines station is one of the four MRT stations in Singapore that have both an above-ground platform (East West line) and an underground platform (Downtown line). The other three stations are Paya Lebar MRT station, Buona Vista MRT station and Expo MRT station.

Always crowded but this area is a great residential area! This is like a central city as there’s a huge shopping mall (Isetan inside as well) and some other food court and shopping area! There’s a big bus terminal and 2stations of MRT (east-west line and downtown line)! Inside the HDB block, you can find many shops and food centre as well! This is a perfect place to live:) Kids-friendly so that many choices of the enrichment classes!:)

Downtown line is not linked to the East West line. A little troublesome to tap out, cross the bus interchange and tap in again when transferring lines. But still good to have this station in the heart of Tampines.

The mrt station is clean the environment is also pretty good with alot of shops nearby but i got stopped randomly 2 times (the same auntie) while taking mrt from this station (downtown line tampines interchange mrt station) (other mrt also never kena only this station) for a random bag check the mrt officer auntie wasnt kind or polite while asking for permission to check my bag. My bag alr so flat not even filled? I put 1 bomb inside a book isit????

Tampines MRT station is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the East West Line (EWL) and Downtown Line (DTL) in Tampines, Singapore. Where I always travelled to work and shops accessible. The station also serves the surrounding retail developments of Tampines Mall, Tampines One and Century Square. Google doesn't recognise this place but it's one of the hidden gems in Tampines, in business for more than 20 years. Probably one of the last few brick and mortar shops selling bubble tea with actual home brewed tea and milk, made the old school way. Snacks and biscuits adorn the rest of the shop though the seller is the killer curry puffs that sit quietly on a table outside the shop. Selling for $3 for 3 pieces, one would assume it's overpriced but after your first bite you'll understand. Taste wise, it puts commercial chains to shame. Old Chang Kee could take a feather out of this hat and learn. The puff is bite sized and the pastry is easy on the palette. Not too doughy, just nice. The curey puff is full of filling, sardine puff has actual sardines and not just onions. Pair your curry puff with one of the snacks on the shelf or their home made soya milk drinks. Come back during key festivals to be blown away by their ramge of home made cookies and snacks. Definitely worth the travel.

Tampines Downtown Line Station is connected to the Tampines Bus Interchange via an underground link. And it's air-conditioned.
