β β β β β Not quite the medieval smithing experience but pretty damn close!
Went with the homies for the basic silver smithing class as a bachelor's activity. Learnt a ton and had fun hammering away.
Recommended going in larger groups (of 5 for now) for a more immersive experience.
Signage (or lack thereof) was hard to find making it difficult to locate the place

β β β β β Went for the Basic Silversmithing Workshop with my boyfriend and we definitely learned a lot about jewellery making and left with newfound respect for jewellers. I appreciated that the instructor (I believe his name was Russell) showed us how jewellery is manufactured on an industrial scale. He walked us through the steps in great detail too, which was helpful as the craft does involve some intimidating tools (as well as fire). That said, although labelled βbasicβ, the workshop does have a relatively steep learning curve, so be prepared for some frustration/difficulties, especially if itβs your first time working with silver/metal.
For future workshops, I think instructors can be clearer in explaining what is or is not feasible for beginners. Although Russell did look at our inspiration for what we wanted to create and confirmed that it was a feasible design, he did not give us any rundown of the typical ring designs that student
s do. As a result, our designs were quite difficult to execute but we did not realise this until more than halfway through the workshop. I believe it would be good for instructors to give students an overview of the types of silver strips available (e.g. thick or pressed flat), the options for engraving (I couldnβt engrave mine because the shape wasnβt flat enough which i was a little bummed about as we had asked about it earlier), and other considerations that students should bear in mind about their design (e.g. that you can make the ring bigger but not smaller). Since we are all beginners, we will definitely take the instructorβs word. So it would be good for instructors to be able to exercise more foresight and be a little more patient in guiding students for a more enjoyable experience.
That said, we did have a nice time and our rings are quite beautiful. We thoroughly appreciate the instructors staying later to help us complete our designs too. Definitely a once in a lifetime kind of experience that gave us some sentimental pieces and good memories.

β β β β β Definitely had a fun time with the gals celebrating my birthday in this basic jewellery casting workshop! Johnne is very friendly, professional in what he did and guided us in crafting what we wanted. He is also very patient to us who ask tons of questions cause it is our very first time doing this. He even gave me a surprise gift on my bdae! After making it ourselves, we realised how difficult it is and reason for the price of a really good quality jewellery. Strongly recommend this workshop for anyone who want to do something different for their birthday, or hens night or anniversary with your love ones!
