(All photos without filter, it’s that colourful) In the past I only knew Peranakan as Nyonya cuisine and colourful/ floral patterns. After visiting this house, through various types of collections (especially the well-made slippers upstairs) and explanation on how they were used and where they were arranged in a house, I feel like I have a fundamental and memorable understanding of peranakan people and their culture. Singapore does not have that many historical/ cultural spots so this is definitely recommended! Instagrammable too ?

Pathetic and complete rip-off. Don't go. 1) 160.50 sgd for Family of 3: less than 5 minutes worth of materials to see. Commentary some basic but nothing here worth this much money. 2) why sell child tickets when the space is not child friendly at all: "don't walk here as edge is sharp", "cannot touch anything as fragile", "please carry child" 3) tea and snacks discontinued because of COVID: gentleman please put up on the website clearly if that is the case. Why hide or keep it grey. Complete waste. Can think of 100 different ways that I could have spent this 160.50 sgd and 1 hour better.

I will not recommend paying that much for visiting this place. SGD 60 is definitely too expensive for this two-storey "museum", there is no story, no proper guiding. The owner just displayed everything and then let yourself have a look, I didn't really learn anything or get any memory, it even didn't take 45 mins.

It was a dream come true to visit The Intan. Mr Alvin Yap, the man behind the museum, is gem of a person. He explained everything so beautifully to us. What an enriching experience it was. So much of culture, heritage, and history under one roof.

This is one of a kind experience. Being invited to a personal museum where it is occupied as a living space, is indeed unique. From the street, to the architecture and The Intan’s peranakan collection, this trip is 100% worthwhile. If you are into stories from the romantic past of the Straits history, this is for you. A knowledgeable host, a quiet atmosphere and lots of Knick knacks to enjoy.

I would avoid this. The collection is small. However, to be fair, there are some nice items and overall could have been fun but the guide seems to be in a rush to end the tour (likely have another appointment to go to). Would likely qualify for three or four stars if the whole tour can be conducted properly. The Peranakan museum which is currently under renovation might be a better alternative.
