β β β β β We have been joining The Yard for summer camps ever since our kids were old enough to join. Coaches had been amazing and my kids love the time they had spent there.
Will definitely recommend it.
Coach Nienke Bujis has been in charge and she has been awesome.
Thank you!

β β β β β I had a most unpleasant experience at The Yard Dempsey.
It was my first time picking my son up from his class. I stepped into the front entrance but could not locate him. The receptionist was on the phone and refused to speak to me despite my cues to want to speak to her briefly. When she was off the call, I queried as to where I could find my son. Her reply was: "pick-ups are supposed to be at the back." I walked to the back of the compound and to my shock, I saw that my 4 year old son had run out and was waiting by the road on his own. I am appalled that no adult had stopped him and that no adult was with him. He could have been knocked down by a car. He could have wandered off on his own. While The Yard has a disclaimer that parents are supposed to pick up their children on time, it cannot hold this against a parent who was not informed of the pick up location. More fundamentally, late or not, we can all agree that the safety of a child should be of primary importance. It is only decent for those operating a service for children to abide by this basic ethic.

β β β β β Every Gymnastics school that I have visited or had a trial with have been WAY better than The Yard (and I have visited many before finalizing one for my 8yo). I took my girl for a trial in October 2020 and , as is normal for every parent, I checked with the coach after the session how my daughter did as I was very keen on signing her up. However, the coach had no idea as it was her first day on the job. I then asked the receptionist if I could speak to someone and the answer was an email address. Sure, I understand that everyone's busy and discussions online are now the norm. I got the manager's email address and promptly sent an email. Four months later, still NO response. BUT, I did get an email and a phone call from The Yard asking me to pay the trial fee. This made me realize what the true intent may be - first money and then everything else. I am just SO glad that my daughter is not with The Yard!

β β β β β We have had a fabulous experience at The Yard! My 4-year-old son loves his ninja class so much he decided to have his birthday party there. The coaches gave him and his friends a stellar experience that the boys are still talking about.
Coach Nienke coaches my 7-year-old on a competitive development squad and Iβve watched her build confidence, strength and a strong connection to her team while rapidly improving her skills. I appreciate that her coach emphasizes both physical and mental development and encourages the girls to work together as a team. What a wonderful place for a young athlete to build a foundation!

β β β β β Great coaches, great facilities and good atmosphere. My 6 year old daughter has been joining The Yard at Dempsey for a few months and the improvements in gymnastic abilities are incredible. Coaches are great motivators and we are lucky to have Coach Nienke as she is friendly, passionate and highly professional. My daughter loves attending class with Coach Nienke and her friends. Highly recommend!

β β β β β My son and daughter participated in camp at The Yard in Dempsey. The overall quality of the program is good in terms of the different activities and the location was very convenient for us. However there are some key areas which require substantial improvement:
1) the communication to parents (as we have several friends also trying to contact them) leading up to the camp was virtually nill and they were unresponsive on both email and phone. Many of us were unsure as to whether our kids would even be attending a camp at dates we thought we had signed up particularly because of the changing landscape around COVID.
2) whilst I understand that handling the logistics of twenty something kids is a handful, I was disappointed at the lack of cordiality on drop offs or pickups by the coaches who were assigned small groups over the course of the week. Some basic etiquette along the lines of good morning, how are you, or an acknowledgement of a child they have seen repeatedly over consecutive days, a little comment to the parent picking up etc would go a long way in at least creating the impression that the coaches enjoy their time with the kids and teaching them.

β β β β β My daughter went for the September fundamental camp. The first two days of the camp she thoroughly enjoyed herself and asked to go for the camp everyday. On the third day, she cried when I picked her up. After probing, She revealed that she couldnβt understand what teacher rafiq ( diff teacher from the first two days) was saying and she was uncomfortable and wanted to quit the camp. I managed to convince her to continue with camp and she thoroughly enjoyed herself again with Coach Hannah.
