The session with Dungeon Master, was extremely entertaining. Is a place where your imagination can run wild, and loosen yourself from the fast pace society ??

Went for the Christmas DND one-shot. Did not personally mesh with the DM's style. Few warning signs from me: 1) DM brushed off PC backstory, inter-party relations, or motivations 2) DM kept referring to my female character as a he / him / guy, despite my corrections 3) DM had poor scenework, cutting back and forth between separated characters as each is literally mid-dialogue, making it difficult to follow any threads of conversation. Also did not use an initiative system for some reason. 4) DM is not particularly eloquent, with a few verbal ticks I personally found annoying. (ie using himself, itself, themselves after most nouns). Did not seem to want to hold a dialogue, describe scenes narratively or set mood. 5) Time management was poor as we spent more than an hour in the initial location then had to rush through following parts. We still ended after 3.5 hours. Positives. Having minis and a board was fun, and my group did enjoy ourselves on the whole, though moreso because we already knew each other than for the activity before us. Met expectations, as we were deciding between this and an escape room, and I still think this was more fun than an escape room. For $20 per person though I can't help but feel I should expect better.

Currently undertaking a DnD campaign at the point of review. Overall, I’ve enjoyed the DnD sessions thus far and do find the DM to be professional, engaging and well-prepared. I would certainly recommend that you do try a session & let the DM know of any concerns prior - that way he will be able to actively help you ? Timeliness / Scheduling The Dungeon Master (DM) is always early / on-time for the session and is flexible towards my group’s frequently changing schedules. As our campaign sessions are usually held fortnightly, I appreciate that the DM would reach out and reconfirm the session with us as we might have had changes to our schedule since the last session. Scene Work The DM has a large array of miniatures, maps and music to aid our imagination. Even during non-studio-based appointments, he makes it a point to bring enough props to illustrate the scene. You can see how much pride the studio takes in preparing and hand-painting the miniatures to suit the various campaigns. While overlapping talks are bound to occur especially during time-sensitive scenes (eg. Fight scenes), the DM does reconfirm what the final decision is before continuing the narration. He does try to circle back to us if he misses our statement - If he doesn’t, it doesn’t hurt to take the initiative to enquire once more (especially since there is one of him and four of us). Interparty relations Prior to the game, I did not know the majority of my other party members however, the DM gave us sufficient opportunity to interact. Sometimes if someone is more reserved in the game, the DM would directly enquire with him if he would like to do any action to pull him into the game play. I appreciate that the DM would try to balance the participation levels amongst the participants as 1 or 2 players may be more vocal and dominant. I appreciate that the DM is sensitive in understanding the group dynamics and if there are aggressive or inappropriate comments made, he would tactfully respond/warm the aggressor. Language Skills I like that the DM can hold the session in a variety of languages & is able to vary his syntax to suit to the audience. Language is a particular pain point for me as I have a terrible command of Mandarin, however the DM was able to settle on a comfortable level with my group whom is more comfortable with Mandarin. Ad-hoc I do enjoy that while we still have an on-going campaign, the DM would tweak the storyline of certain sessions to fit with certain festivals (eg. Halloween). The studio would put up decorations to suit the in-story festivities..

This is the best place to play your D&D games. The DMs are permissive and forgiving, and everyone is welcome. Whatever one wants to do in game is permitted, within the bounds, and the DM also ensures that your characters are not too overpowered and constantly challenged. It is clear to me that a lot of time and effort is put in into creating a friendly and accessible community for those who want to play table top roleplaying games (TTRPGs) but don't know how to get into them. 5/5 stars, 10/10 would always go to play.
