One of the best Tonkatsus in Singapore with huge portions! Located right in the heart of Orchard at Shaw House, is home to one of the best Tonkatsu’s you can find in Singapore - Tonkichi. The portions were huge, served with generous amounts of side dishes such as Chuka Kuraga (Jellyfish), Pickles, Cabbage, Rice, Miso soup, and a whole slew of sauces! They even served the sauces with sesame seeds on a traditional Mortar and Pestle set, for us to grind our own seeds and concoct our own sauce which was really cool. The side dishes were really appetising which really prepared us for the main dish. The main stars were definitely the Tonkatsu Pork and Fried Oysters, which were really crispy, thick and flavourful. Although the price was on the higher end, for the quality of the premium Tonkatsu, it is definitely worth it. Service staff were attentive, and ambience of the place was really cosy and really felt like I was back in Japan. (we also had a good view of Orchard Road from our seat!) P.S. The hot ocha, cabbage salad, and rice are all refillable at no additional costs!

The tonkatsu platter set is great for sharing! Personally, the quality of the katsu isn’t great. The breading was soggy and lacks crunch. The rolls were great! As a diehard fan of Ma Maison’s Tonkatsu, this is a far cry. Not the worst but definitely nothing to rave about.

This restaurant is definitely one of my favorite comfort food. Crispy and juicy everytime. The food is excellent and delicious. Quality definitely consistent. They've been around over 20 years so you know they are really great at what their doing.

Hands down, best Katsu Toji I had in Singapore. I usually get the Hire pork. Guaranteed to be full for the whole day. Really enjoy the little bits of mushroom inside it. Free flow of cabbage too, which is so fresh you don’t even need salad dressing. Service staff polite. Green tea is fresh.

Fantastic experience & excellent food. Thankfully we made reservation before we went as the restaurant was full - likely the Isetan shoppers dropped by after private sale (most of them have Isetan plastic bags). Food wise, Sashimi was very fresh. Sushi roll was my girls’ favourite. Kama shio (grilled yellowtail collar) was fresh and grilled with crispy skin- we finished every single bit! Will certainly visit again - like we always do. Do get a table next to window to see Xmas lights!

Very nice restaurant... service was great. Food quality is above average. Prices slightly high side but is to be expected. Great for families on weekends. Perfect also for business meetings on weekdays. Try the pork tonkatsu, you will be pleasantly satisfied. And request for a refill of the Cabbage foc, and don't forget to add their in-house dressing, lovely! Will surely be back to try other dishes....

Visited the outlet on a Friday evening and it was bustling. Though there was no queue on the outside, a line was slowly forming. Service was prompt as we waited only for 10 minutes before getting to our seats. The place was rather spacious but it can get quite loud as people are dining and talking. I ordered the Prawn Katsu Set and I can't recall what my partner had ordered but it was one of the pork set. Our food took a while to arrive, understandable as the restaurant was full. We were greeted with a big bowl of fresh cabbage to go with their sesame sauce. Our food came piping hot as it came fresh out of the kitchen. The deep fried items did not smell like old oil so that was a good sign. The prawn were well prepared, however felt that it was overcooked so the flesh was a bit mushy. My partner who frequents other tonkatsu restaurant preferred that one than to this one (totally up to personal preference). Overall, nothing to shout about and would recommend only if you are in the area and if there's no queue.

Reasonable price for their set menu. My girls simply love their tonkatsu. Rather crowded we manage to get a seat as still rather early. Recommended reservation in advance. Grinding the sesame seeds just added some fun while waiting for meal to be served. A great place to try for Casual dinning. Service is fast and good.
