Never fails to disappoint. Appt at 9am not even a singje doctor is seeing the patient. Where are all the doctors and are the patients taken for granted or simply playing god?

One of the foremost rehabilitation centres serving different specialist patient diagnostic groups such as Acquired Brain Injuries, Spinal Cord Injuries, Amputation & Stroke. Staff work in multi-disciplinary teams, and pride themselves in their cohesiveness, quality of work, and care processes that are focused on patient- and family-centric values.

The ward 2 is located at 3rd story of this Old building. The room is very stuffy and not well ventilated My wife which is on bed 72 is not able to move her body due to moderate stroke. Her back is so wet and full of sweat even though she is laying on an air mattress. I ask the staff nurse for a standing fan to make my wife comfortable and she told me the hospital has not had enough fans. Should I bring one from my house. Well she said if I want to I can bring but I must sign a form to say they are not responsible for any damage or theft. Sigh.

I am writing this review as a ward visitor. The rating is purely anecdotal and in no way a measure of the quality of service of this establishment. I was mildly amused that I had assumed the ward numbers follow the floor numbers - do check with staff first because Ward 1 is on 2nd floor and Ward 2 is on 3rd floor. TTSH's rehab wards are within the same building as AMKCH/THKH. This hospital is looks old in terms of architecture but is generally clean and well maintained. As mentioned by another reviewer, the wards without aircon have rather weak ventilation. Even with one ceiling fan above each bed and fans between the foot of the beds, the area feels warm but not stuffy. The wards are quite spacious which you may not find in restructured hospitals. The corridors into the wards however are quite brightly lit and have some colourful designs like butterflies on the floors.

1. Lack of nurses. Just 1 nurse on duty for the ward serving 6 patients. The nurse could also be helping out another 6-bedder ward beside. 2. Check-in, check-out process has been archaic and robotic. Check-in, check-out staff are bored out of their wits and some can be rude, raise their voice and bombard us with their checklist/script of questions. 3. Admin procedures for admission/transfer from another hospital was archaic. Admin staff expected me to go down on the same day during their office hours to settle transfer procedures. Hospitals also do not share information they already collected from me previously when I performed a hospital transfer. 4. I did not expect this low level/standard of service from TTSH at its rehab centre.

My mom got transferred from TTSH Novena to TTSH Rehabilitation Centre and initially I'm looking forward to it but even my Myammar helper got shock at how the hospital looks like as compared to TTSH at Novena. Gone are the luxury of IC tap check in, no luxury of empty taxis queuing for passengers, no canteen or food court, no 7-Eleven, Coffee Bean etc but there's FREE WI-FI. No Patient Toilet in the 6 or 8 bedded, only common toilet with shower facilities. Toilets for visitors are located outside of the wards which is inconvenient. However, it's pretty clean, spacious and less crowded. I feel there's lack of nurses here. No sight of nurses during changing shift or during nurse break time so longer waiting time when patients need assistance to go toilet or change diapers, shower etc. The Nurses, Physiotherapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), Therapist Assistant, Medical Social Worker (MSW) are very helpful and patience. On weekend mainly Saturdays depending on the schedule, nurses and therapist assistants will offer haircut service for the patients on voluntary basis. My mom had a haircut before her discharge and she loves it. I love the haircut too. My mom has since discharged on 30 April 2021 after 55 days. Thank you to all staff at both TTSH Novena and TTSH Rehabilitation Centre.
