Wawa Lala Bee Hoon (Fortune Centre) - 190 Middle Rd

Fresh lala but not particularly impressed by the food. Signature lala soup was a light stock with heavy emphasis on ginger and Chinese wine flavours. Would have preferred a deeper seafood umami flavour profile. Sambal lala tasted pretty generic, light sweet tomato based flavours. Restaurant itself was airy and comfortable. Reasonable value.

The portion is just nice. Lala so so fresh. Wine soup version is kinda spicy, if you cannot handle spicy, you can choose the clear soup. Both are good as well. The wine with chili broth with a hint of Chinese wine and kick of chili. Butter garlic lala is good as well. Service is prompt.

Finally visited @wawasg a specialty store that focus just on clams, after hearing so much good reviews. Got to try 3 out of 4 of their Signature items include, Power Drunken Lala Bee Hoon, Fresh Cockles Marinated In Special Sauce and Fresh Lala in Home-made Garlic Butter Sauce. The last signature is Power Sambal Lala With Tasty Rice however it was sold out hence I got the Power Sambal Lala without rice. The first thing I noticed when I seat down is that they have a seawater tank to keep the clams live and fresh before cooking. I was told this is to sieve out impurities so it is sandless and to remove dead ones. And true indeed. The lala are clean, totally not sandy and very fresh. My 4 bowls arrived shortly and filled with generous amount of clams in each bowl. The Power Drunken Lala Bee Hoon, I can taste the sweetness from the LaLa and distinct touch of wine in the broth which make it very flavourful and robust. The chilli dip provided was damn powerful. Also if you not a bee hoon person, you can choose tang hoon to go with it. The Fresh Lala in Home-made Garlic Butter Sauce, I enjoyed alot. The sauce is so creamy rich buttery yet is not cloying. In fact this is light and aromatic and you can taste the pronounce garlicky butter and the sweetness of LaLa. The Power Sambal Lala taste abit reminisce of chilli crab but alot more spicy and better! Really packs a punch. Very addictive that keeps you coming. The Fresh Cockles Marinated In Special Sauce are fresh and plump and the special sauce is appetising and with addictive spicy kick that goes very well with the cockles. Overall I enjoy my dining experience @wawasg with their fresh clean lala that is all opened up, making the eating experience really easy and yummy! Soup was refreshing. Lala clams and cockles were very fresh. Butter garlic lala clams MUST TRY! Portion was generous. Staff was polite. Highly recommended to give it a try!

Went with the popular choice and it wasn’t a letdown. Broth was super flavorful and there was a generous amount of clams. The other dish which is the butter garlic pasta was alright but the pasta texture made the dish feel cheap. But otherwise flavors were still on point. Would come back for the hearty broth!

After eating it at a potluck. When down to the shops and tried it there. You will like it if u love seafood. Soup is nice and sweet. Seeham and clams are very nice for those who can appreciate. A more welcoming environment will be great. Perhaps too tired.

Genuinely surprised by the quality and quantity of the food. The cockles are way bigger than what you can get outside nowadays and there were more than 20 clams in the signature soup. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu. Update: Returned on 25 May 2022 to try the sambal clams with rice and clams with garlic butter. Not as impressed by the food as my first visit.

Decent food. The cockles are really huge. Lala is fresh and meaty. But portion is abit small for the price paid. It's a food that's hard to come by in Singapore. Overall very good experience and would come back again.
