โ โ โ โ โ I've read the other reviews, including the one about the trouble with Tax refund and for me, that place is still a good option to go and buy cameras and other equipment.
Ask for a sales rep called Allan (double L, no relation to the owner). I find him very knowledgeable and helpful in his own kind of gruff way.
The selection is very wide and the prices are alright. You may not get 5% tax rebate, but you'll pay probably 10% cheaper than mainstream / fixed prices outlets. So all in all...

Went in as the young man was polite but he was busy.
This senior in age n not sure how good is his knowledge and Rudd and arrogant to my queries on compact camera.
He thinks he knows all.
I think the shop owner is good to do some check on how their salesmen serve customer.
I am a ready buyer and has good influence to people what shops to go.
Sorry to say NO NO to this shop.

โ โ โ โ โ Very disappointed with AlanPhotos. Bought a faulty Bushnell Marine and salesman claimed that the light in binoculars was working but as I placed a new battery inside the binoculars it clearly couldn't work. Had fungus inside the lenses too. Proclaims to "promise to provide us with the best solutions for our needs" yet they scammed their customers and not agree to have an exchange or refund. Beware when buying stuffs from them. Don't get your hard earn money wasted on these hypocrites!

P.S. That does not mean you should not compare prices and bargain :-)
Do note that there will be additional charges if a credit card is used to pay. Cash prices are better, and they are up front about this.

โ โ โ โ โ I come around 7:25 while closing time on Google is 8:30. I ask to see a specific camera body, staff told me they don't have before I point it to them on the shelf. They hand it to me then 20 sec later tell me they're closing in 5mn. It would only take me around 1 more minute but the staff then tells me better I come back another day.
First it may be good to update your info on Google, then if you don't want customers to come in, maybe actually close the shop instead instead of telling them to go off while they just entered.

โ โ โ โ โ I'm starting out in Flash Photography and was stepping into Alan Photo for the first time.
I was served by Gary who is both professional and not pushy. He served me patiently and advised me well on equipments and didn't up sell me on anything which I didn't need.
Godox flash equipment prices was indicated. For a sigma lens I'm interested in, he made clear the price on the calculator.
Transparent and pleasant experience. Will definitely come back to look for Gary!

โ โ โ โ โ Had a very pleasant experience there, very friendly and polite guy. Had a very nice chat and they had exactly what I was looking for. Although it was in the storeroom and not out on display. Very happy to have found and purchased the item right away. Was served by Gary according to the name on the receipt. Would definitely return to purchase other stuff in the future, as the service is just overwhelmingly pleasant.

I had a few alarms going off already when they brought out the calculator when I asked for the price. Next time I will stick to a place with price tags
The tax return was nothing but trouble and I spent more money going back and forth in a taxi. Every time they wanted me to bring something else in order to complete the documents.
Finally at the airport they told me that Alan Photo had cancelled the tax return. They warned me about shopping at Sim Lim Square and I will never go there again. Lying me straight in the face!
