Ang Mo Kio 628 Market

A medium sized hawker centre which is clean, spacious and well ventilated. There is always a long queue at the roast meat stall. Tried their assorted roast meat set for one person but was a bit disappointed probably due to too high expectations. The roast pork skin is crispy though. Another stall’s Amaranth soup is quite big portion and tastes good.

Forgot to take picture but I highly recommend the Hokkien Fried Prawn Noodles & the Carrot Cake (White). Super delicious. You will not miss the Duck Rice Stall due to the long queue. Super good too. Must try. To avoid is the Hainanese Curry. Great disappointment.Ordered their Pork Chop Curry. The meat has a weird taste & most disappointing is the curry. Very watery.

Visited 628 Ang Mo Kio Market when my mom's warded at TTSH Rehabilitation Centre which is about 8 minutes walk away. It's a wet market and food centre which serves quite good variety of food. It gets quite crowded during lunch time and early evening time. There are also few retail shops that offer really cheap clothes. I bought 12 pyjamas sets from a Chinese seller at $7/set. Material is cotton, thin but not translucent and very cooling for our weather. Walk down further there's a kopitiam opposite a Chinese temple that offers good food too. I love the clear soup non oily Yong Tau Foo here. I think the stall is called MEI XI. There are other shops nearby too that you can explore. ❤️

There are so many delicious local food here in this market that you'll be spoilt for choice! Must try ? 1) Love the popular delicious "Hao Wei" Roast duck & roast pork rice (always super long Q). 2) The delicious Hainanese Chicken Rice (corner last stall) 3) Wonton Mee (next to the delicious Hainanese Chicken Rice stall), 3) The Nonya Mix Veg Rice with Rendang Mutton & many yummy dishes cannot be missed (next to a corner Japanese food stall); 4) the Thai Food stall that cooks yummy Tom Yum Fried Rice, Tom Yum Soup, fried Phad Thai noodles. 5) The Congee stall, 6) Fried Carrot Cakes (same row as the wontan mee stall & Hainanese ChickenRice stall, 7) Corner Japanese bento, 8) Fish Soup that's super fresh sliced fish, 9) Desserts stall that sells smooth hot delicious Black Sesame & Peanut Paste, Almond Paste, 10) Prawn & Pork Ribs noodles , 11) Fried Oyster Omelette, 12) Spinach & Minced meat Soup with Yong Tau Foo , 13) Bedok Chwee Kueh stall , Lastly 14) Malay stall Nasi Lemak... First time in my life I saw origami paper boxes folded and placed on all tables for diners to throw their food waste ie bones, prawn shells etc - so thoughtful right! To whoever you are - Xin Ku Ni Le and Xie Xie! ?

Been to the market several times and this dessert stall sells the best desserts be it hot or cold. Price is very affordable.

Da Jia Lai Chee Cheong Fun 大家来猪肠粉 Unlike the other hand made Chee Cheong fun, this one provides bean sprouts and shredded cabbages as the base. The Chee Cheong fun that is smooth and thin, goes well with the crispy bean sprouts and cabbages. I therefore like their fun. Furthermore the char siew Chee Cheong fun is sold at S$3.70 which is affordable. You may request for the sauce to be separated. The chill is nice but spicy.

Tried the fried carrot cake from stall #01-64 which seems to have lots of good reviews. There is only 1 portion size at $3 and in dark sauce only. The sauce is too sweet to me. Overall is still decent.
