Large variety of food available, at pocket friendly prices. Visited during a weekday lunch hour and it was not very packed. Available seats around the market despite covid measures in place. There are some queue at some stalls but not too long. Great place to have a wonderful meal while being easy on your bank ?

Balestier Market is actually a cooked food centre located along Balestier Road. There is quite a big open public carpark behind. So it is quite convenient. Someone says I should try a chicken rice stall here and he is right. The chicken is moist and the rice is really good. Cost $4.00. There are many famous chicken rice restaurants along Balestier Road. I think this little stall in the market is as good if not better than them. Today I tried the traditional fish soup with rice. Not bad at $4.50.

Highly recommend the popiah and carrot cake stall, so delicious and generous with the portions at low prices. The carrot cake, medium sized at $4.50 came with very crispy egg! Addictive. Wish they gave more chilli though. Bbq chicken wings (at the stall that also sells satay) are above average, nicely charred, meaty. Could be juicier. Goes well with the chilli provided. Stingray with rice from the tzichar stall was so-so in taste, but the chilli had a lot of dried shrimp, yumz. Place is clean, and has many powerful fans to cool diners down. p.s. Slightly worrying: There was nobody manning the TraceTogether booth for about 2 hours during dinnertime on a busy Saturday...

5 STARS for the Korean Fried chicken stall (called Noori). Authentic and freshly made KFC, believe the aunty is Korean. The wait is a little long but SO WORTH IT. Crispy skin and delicious batter. 1 STAR for the Spinach Soup stall. Look at the pic - super underwhelming bowl of lacklustre ingredients, especially when compared to their pictures. Very stingy with the ingredients, felt abit scammed.

Lost and Found at Balestier Market. There's at least 3 well-known stalls which moved here from Long House Thomson. Recommended the Braised Duck Rice, Big Prawn Noodle Soup and Goreng Pisang (Banana Fritters) stalls formerly from Long House Thomson.

I had a katcu curry here. To be honest, it wasn't very good. The soup and curry were way too bland unless I am supposed to season them myself. I will try a different stall next time.

I used to avoid it for three main reasons ; very crowded , very hot and no carpatk . Still crowded at peak hours but now there are air blowers . If i am not mistaken this is a conserved building being the first " farmers" market where farmers could sell direct to consumers. But the heat from cooking and global warming makes eating here most unpleasant. With the blowers and fans, it is more comfortable , at least at mid morning. The big carpark at the back which is accessed via Mandalay has enough parking and a staircase down . Looks like a number of stalls relocated from Longhouse , judging from the name. The big prawn noodles was underwhelming . And I was shocked that one chicken from Bugis street chicken rice is $30.00 with $4.50 as the starting price for chicken rice.

If only the place was cleaner and not so infested with birds jumping around on tables. A few decent stalls serving local fare. Thai stall is fair though wait time is just too long during dinner.
