Boon tong kee was crowded, so I'm happy to find great option here without a queue. Smooth fragrant chicken with generous spicy garlic chilli and ginger. Rice was also delicious!

$4.50 chicken rice. Chicken and rice was average, chilli and sweet dark sauce was good. There's better ones out there

We have had these several times and Bugis Street Chuen Chuen Chicken Rice is fast becoming a favourite for our family. We dabao at least once a week from them these recent months. My daughter has mentioned Bugis Street but only today did I see the name Chuen Chuen and straight away it hit me (if my memory serves me right) that I used to eat them after clubbing in the now defunct Boulevard Hotel in the early 80s and yes at the roadside stall in Bugis! Ah... Nostalgia! Anyway, what we loved about Chuen Chuen is that their chicken rice itself is fragrant and "liap liap" which tests the cook's skill and passed with flying colours, to us at least. The roast chicken is flavoursome and juicy. Today, we also had macaroni and the soup was packed separately to maintain the noodle/pasta integrity. Loved this "new" find! Maybe I should visit the stall and see if there's a difference eating on the spot from takeaways.

Quite expensive for a food/hawker centre environment. $5 for roasted chicken rice. Added egg and chicken wing for additional $2.20. Rice good, chili good, soup good, unfortunately chicken was dry and sweet. Takeaway standard chicken rice costs $4.50.

My favourite chicken rice stall in Singapore, always so flavourful and delightful. We always get the steamed or roasted chicken set that comes with a side of veggies and soup.

I was really surprised to see the price of $30 per bird when most places sell it for as low as $15.00 And a plate of chicken rice starting from $4.50,? There is the option to get chicken feet and taugeh which seems to mark the more upmarket or " atas " chicken rice places like the Bishan kim san leng one. Still , like all the stalls in this market food court which i think is privately owned, there is a premium on top of a premium . Sort of reiterates my view that Balestier road food places , being privately owned , have to pay higher rent, and that cost has to be passed down to the consumer and so the food will cost more than in neighborhood food courts .

Chicken Rice (SGD $4.50) @ Bugis Street Chuen Chuen Chicken Rice. . Serving since 1979, this heritage brand has shifted several times of the years, each time being closely associated with their location - first in Bugis, then in Thomson Longhouse, and now in Balestier. . Folks speak well of their chicken, both poached and roasted versions, for its moist tender satisfying chew, and meaty savoury sweet salty flavour as it picks up the gravy. . The rice is fluffy and not overly oily, yet carries the aroma of the chicken fats infused within, giving it a lovely grainy savoury sweet flavour. . The chili with its bright sour spicy kick, plays a good part.
