i am living right next to this hawker centre where this fried carrot stall is since 1999. Every other morning i need to have a $5 black carrot cake fried by the old owner who i call ah pek. He knows me as a regular. About 10 years back the daughter and son in law started taking the afternoon shift and added char kway teow into the menu, which i am not that into it after trying a couple times. Of late since covid19, the old owner ah pek did not come to the stall anymore because as an elderly, his risk is higher, so his daughter and son in law both took over the morning shift on top of the afternoon shift. I ordered a black carrot cake and i saw the son in law doing the order for me. just within 30secs, he finished frying it by flipping and pushing the carrot cakes a bit and packed it for me. I went home, took one bite and i was angry. Angry because he simply did not put his heart into making that food, he did not add any seasoning so it really tasted nothing, just carrot cake texture. It was also poorly put together the eggs and cakes are NOT cooked through. This is the first time i remember finding something inedible, because no matter how bad food is, they are edible, but this one is really unpalatable for the fact that its semi cold, the egg is almost non existing and it has NO TASTE AT ALL. I hope the stall owner reads this because i''m too regular and a familiar face to tell them straight up in person. I am disappointed. But more sad for ah pek because i know how much he loves his job at the stall and his passion to make sure everything is made right, and now i know once he passes on, his daughter and son in law will F it all up and there will never be such good carrot cake in boon lay again

Best carrot cake in Singapore. I've eaten from this stall since I was a kid, and it is still really, really good. Try the black carrot cake, they are known for their black one. I heard that the stall owner make his own secret black sauce recipe that he spends hours preparing weekly.

Erm.. read the reviews and decided to try it. Was quite disappointed, order a $4 black carrot cake and gave me a $3 white one and say its black... The auntie who is helping out there isnt helping the old chef... Feel bad for the chef, maybe the old chef should get a suitable replacement before she ruins the business. "Black" carrot cake (2/5) Mushy and over cooked... Will come try it again nxt time for the real black carrot cake...

One of the older stall within food center, most of heavy lifting passed to younger generation although still can see original owner around to check quality. Still as good, price adjusted to inflation still not very painful. Both black (sweet) and white (salty) variety to order from. Carrot cake is soft whichever the selection. Charred nicely and fried well with egg, add spicy chilli or not is up to you. The diced spring onion sprinkle on top just adds to the aroma and freshness for the dish.

Had the $4 char kway teow for dinner. Extremely Average, it needs to tone down with the sweet black sauce, more chilli and be more generous with the fish cakes and cockles. At the moment, the fish cakes are given in strips and in very small amount.

Read about this stall at Boon Lay hawker centre that sells fried carrot cake from a food blog. Happen to be around and decided to check this place out. There wasnt any queue when I was there. Apart from fried carrot cake, they also serve char kway teow. Price for the fried carrot cake starts from SGD$3 onwards. Order the SGD$3 black version with less chili. Colour was quite pale. Carrot cake was actually not bad. Can taste crispy bits of the carrot cake. Quite flavourful but could with more black sauce.

Best Fried Carrot Cake you can find in the west part of Singapore. Sad thing is, they are not always open. Probably open for business after 1730 hrs. A must try dish if you are here in Boon Lay Market and Food Village.
