Run down place, needs major upgrading. Can improve on cleanliness. If you’re not particular on that, can try 五香 & white bee hoon!

Chanced upon a very unique stall called “Curry On”! The owner previously worked as a chef in various hotels before setting up a stall selling several dishes at Maxwell market, then came over to Bukit Timah market to set up this stall specialising in just 2 key dishes: Turmeric Laksa and BBQ Chicken with Turmeric Rice and Curry. As you can tell, both dishes uses turmeric as a key ingredient, which is known for bringing in tons of health benefits! This turmeric laksa is the best of its kind i’ve ever tried, and really sets the standards high up for other places selling this dish. The gravy is super thick, and heavily emphasises on the usage of lemongrass (you can see bits of it within the gravy). It doesn’t give off the same strong “lemak” coconutmilk taste as found in regular laksas, has a slightly more sourish note, and the taste is really similar to a thai dish called Kanom Jeen Nam Ya! The spice level is also very tolerable, it doesn’t hit you immediately but instead creeps up on you the more you slurp up the gravy soaked thick white beehoon, which is cooked just right. The accompanying ingredients: fishcakes, chicken meat and taugei were also very generous, especially the handmade otah-egg mixture which had a softer mouthfeel and spice-packed flavour compared to regular otahs. Just when I thought the laksa was enough to fulfil such a satisfying lunch, here comes the BBQ chicken w turmeric rice and curry..the BBQ-style chicken slices are tender, juicy, and oh-so flavourful with the prominence of wokhei/charred taste the more you chew through the meat. the turmeric-coloured rice is unlike those usual western stalls where the rice is just coloured yellow with no flavour. instead, the rice was super flavourful with the addition of curry!! achar is more on the sweeter side, but it worked great as a palate cleanser. the sambal was also very flavourful but i didn’t take much of it cuz the dish was already stellar on its own? likewise, the same tasty steamed otah-egg mixture is also provided here~ overall, these 2 dishes may sound plain, but both were so well-executed and literal flavour bombs that i regret only trying this out now despite visiting the market for almost a decade. will be back tmr and on a more frequent basis to savour these 2 hearty meals again!? (portion for both is also super generous at $5 each!)

Went for dinner on weekday. Alot of empty tables and carpark spaces. Personal thoughts, tried all the famous, highly recommended, long q food stalls. Not very impressed. Maybe expectations too high from all the raves?

Been there twice and didn’t have difficulty finding seats. Can be seen to be patronise by a lot of hikers The wanton mee stall near to the Nyonya chendol or where you see hand basin is worth a try. Char Siew is nice, a good mix of fat and lean. Doesn’t have the questionable red colour dye and not too sweet, good char. Amazing wantons. 3 stars cause food choices rather limited, multiple stalls selling the same food Visit the a pair of elders selling drinks located nearing the back, very cute and coffee is nice.

Super good carrot cake from Golden Chopsticks stall ? really generous with the egg, that was cooked very well into the carrot cake pieces. Also came with chye por and hei bi chilli on the side. The entire dish was so delicious - gotta be one of my fav carrot cake!

Two dishes to try here 1)Carrot Cake and 2) Kway Chap. Nothing truly to rave about. The selection of stalls are small and most sell similar food. You would be better off at chomp chomp or old airport.

18 Jan 2022: Food centre is on Level 2 (lift available) and there many great choices. The walkway between the stalls and dining tables at some areas are too close for comfort and it is also challenging to get a table during the lunch hours. Our choices for today are Terry Katong Laksa…flavorful and the gravy is lighter than the typical laksa gravy. The serving is not very big and we added more sambal to give us the extra boost. Penang Char Kway Teow...not too oily, nice savoury flavour and a decent “Wok Hei” aroma too. He Le Seafood White Bee Hoon…a little disappointed with the weak broth and luckily, the fried garlic provided the additional flavor. Nyonya Chendol…nice yummy dessert to have after a meal. Lots of chendol jelly, red beans and with the right amount of gula Melaka around the shaved ice

A good size hawker center on the second floor above a large wet market area. The wet market stalls were closed as it's late in the afternoon. Tried the Nonya Chendol for chendol with red beans, and sugar cane drink from the Fruity Fruit stall. Both are good and reasonable priced. Surprise to see satay stall here, and will try on my next visit. Also saw a Japanese food stall with teriyaki combo dishes. Otherwise, there are a lot of food variety here, good find!
