โ โ โ โ โ Year after year I come. No confectionery makes mooncakes quite like Tai Chong Kok. Old school baked mooncakes are the best. And Tai Chong Kok is the very best ...been supporting them for more than 40 years (or for as long as I remember eating mooncakes). Tried every other mooncakes, Raffles, Sheraton, whatever....I always come back here.

โ โ โ โ โ For authentic traditional moon cakes, my first choice is Tai Chong Kok (Hue Kee) moon cakes. Very authentic and traditional.
Simple traditional packaging, not fanciful. Purely traditional presentation.
What are the characteristics of traditional moon cakes? Share it here: the crust has a traditional cake fragrance. The lotus seed paste is pure hence will not stick to the teeth. The bake is just right, and egg yolk is a little oily. Many famous brand mooncake can't meet these criteria.
Therefore, for moon cakes, my only choice is ๅคงไธญๅฝ้ฅผๅฎถ๏ผ้ฆ่ฎฐ๏ผใ

โ โ โ โ โ Traditional style Cantonese pastries. They have dumplings during Mid Autumn Festival, Chinese New Year goodies during Chinese New Year and ang ku kueh.

โ โ โ โ โ Trying this outlet this year. C19 has turn life and everything upside down. Can't see any mooncake markets at malls like takashimaya or the various malls this year. Good opportunity to try the small shops directly. Buying them also give us a chance to explore the locality. Bought a combo of red bean, white lotus paste filling. Some kosong, some 1 yolk some double. To satisfy the taste buds of different members of the extended family.
Time flies, another mid autumn is here in 2021! Queue build up in the morning.

โ โ โ โ โ One of the missing GEM around Alexandra Area. During Autumn Festival, many of them know the Chinatown outlet and do not know there is one of the branch here. This traditional confectionery in Singapore, we must continue to support this long history SME. They just locate opposite the Queenstown Shopping Centre. If you like the foods of Alexandra Village Hawker Centre, we will able to locate them just right in front.

โ โ โ โ โ For traditional tasting Chinese moon cakes, I highly recommend the Tai Chong Kok Hue Kee stores over the Tai Chong Kok stores (Sago Street, Chinatown). The Tai Chong Kok brand has 2 chains run by the 2 sisters.
The Hue Kee moon cakes retain most of the 'yuan wei' (original taste/flavour and aroma), while the other sister' moon cakes has lost all the original taste, texture and aroma.
I only recommend the original baked and white snow skin moon cakes with the original fillings.
There are new flavours/tastes both baked and snow skin type, these are not my cup of tea.
Try the 'yuan wei' moon cakes!

โ โ โ โ โ You want heritage food like old school mooncakes ? Here you go . You get favour like golden ham mooncakes here. Price is competitive as of others. However there is no price tag for traditional old school way . I am quite fortunate to meet the granny running the place .. I ordered only one moon cake but she gives me two piglet cookies as gift . I feel like a kid all over. Good memories of this hidden gem.

โ โ โ โ โ If youโre planning to get their mooncakes read this
I love the ่ฑๆฒ้ค
, pineapple tarts. I love chatting with the nice aunties.
Today I got their mooncakes. All are massive let down expect for single yolk lotus paste which is superb.
Their butter pastry pecan lotus paste, snow skin black sesame, and their lava lotus are all filled with cheap strong artificial fragrance. Their black sesame is the worst. I canโt even taste their black sesame but for that lousy cheap fragrance that reminds me for those 10ยข sweet drinks I get in primary school canteen. Why the needs for that? None of the black sesame products in market have that weird fragrance but just focus on the taste of black sesame. The lava lotus has the same frangrance as the cheap provision shop pineapple cookies fragrance but why do they need to add those? Make those mood cakes taste cheap and bad but the price is not cheap. As I write this they cheap fragrance still linger in my mouth and Iโm gonna throw the other black sesame snow skin away wasting my $6.
Just get the basic lotus and egg yolk and not other things for moon cakes
