★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Saw this on a walking tour of Singapore back in March. This monument stands in tribute to Deng Xiaoping, the second leader of the PRC after Mao Zedong, and best known for this market based reformed. Next to the bust is a small biography of the man along with a small blurb indicating his connection with Singapore as his one and only visit to Singapore in 1978.
The monument is a life sized bust of Deng Xiaoping and depicts him in his later years with a receding hairline and a slight benign smile. Worth a quick detour if you’re already walking around Boat Quay.
