The Buff Pigeon Statue - Raffles Pl

One of the best public Sculptures in the world. Do not miss the other one in Parkview Square.

The famous fat bird statue at Raffles Place along Singapore river. I grew up with this iconic statue of Singapore being where it is for the last few decades, and it has always been a great meeting point for gatherings. I wouldn't come here on purpose just to visit the statue, but it's definitely part of a very comfortable evening walk/run from Marina Bay area through to Robertson Quay area. Annual dragonboat reggarta races also used to happen here.

Fascinating Piece of Art! It's been there since I started my career. The Art Collection by UOB has always been great.... Have a look around when you are there. Try identify what other pieces you can find. This Fat Pigeon always put a smile on my face!

Landmark. Relaxing sitting at riverside

Saw this at Boat Quay back in early March before the lockdown. This sculpture by Fernando Botero is like many of his sculptures and has been created in his signature style with exaggerated proportions. It’s a very cartoonish depiction of a bird, but an amusing one too.

Mar 21 2021 sunny Sunday Jogged along Jalan Buruh, West Coast Hway, West Coast Rd, then Pasir Panjang Rd. Passed by Science Park II, Haw Par Villa and several temples. Then cable cars were within sight and I knew Sentosa is just a stone throw away. Tourist arrival is near zero due to Covid-19. With vaccination is under way in most countries, I hope the borders can be reopened soon and the sky is where we belong. Pushing further along Keppel Rd, Telok Blangah and Anson Rd, UOB Tower stands tall next to Singapore River. The fat bird stands next to the river and attracted many to take a photo or 2. Not too far away, the Elgin Bridge sits on the Singapore River to give a beautiful postcard quality photo. There is a sense of achievement after completing my 10th half marathon in this year. Mizuno running shoes help me to complete my mission.

The name is not fat pigeon but just bird there though. The bird is looking really fat and muscular. Came one afternoon, this place is a bit covered by the tall building and not that hot. The breeze is nice around here. Very windy.
