we patronize this restaurant since early 2000s, before the SARS. back then they were at Raffles place area (town area) , Taste were very good and authentic but in recent years , I think it's the young generation that is manning the restaurant as Ah Gong is probably >100 years old! taste of the dishes change a lot and is not too good now . my recent order of home delivery : the popiah taste is about 7/10 of the original taste. all other dishes were ok but the Fish Maw Soup is a disappointment as it was totally a different strange taste, it tasted so Sweet my goodness and nothing resembled the fish maw soup that we used to have , I hope they don't destroy Ah Gong's reputation of Hokkien dishes..really sad as the young ones really do not know what is Good Taste, it seems.. but there are still good points: delivery service is prompt and good, food still warm in Vacuum pack if you order set meal ,price is also reasonable

I was very disappointed during my recent visit to this restaurant. I was served with overnight cabbage for our popiah which was already darken in colour. It was so obvious but they deny it. The shrimps in Hokkien noodles are frozen shrimps. Chrysanthemum tea was so diluted and tasteless. Overall food was just so so. Not worth going again.

My family LOVES the popiah at this place, especially the popiah skin and the garlic. The chili is super spicy! They also have cooked food - would recommend the otah, the oyster omelette and especially the fish maw soup! Soup came with super huge crab chunks in it. Would recommend!

This is not some place that I would recommend someone to go. Here is the reason why. 1 - The Popiah is over hyped. The taste of the Popiah didn’t meet the expectation in terms of taste. Based on the menu, we are supposed to be able to make 6 Popiahs. However, the ingredients provided hardly is enough to even make 4. To add salt to this, remember it’s DIY. I will give credit to the chillies as that add a spice to the popiah. They could have included already done popiah in the menu. 2- The Hokkien Mee is full of Gee taste, didn’t find much ingredients in that as well. It’s already in my list of worst tasting food list. 3- The meat used for the prawn roll is definitely frozen meat and yet they are charging a premium price tag for that. 4-The cold barley drink was filled with ice upon serving. 5- Please note that you will be charged with $1.50 for a few miserable pieces of crackers. Remember to reject that upon serving. The only one thing positive in the meals that we order was the vegetable. This will be a one time visit. It’s either someone has lost the interest to cook up a good meal or the business model for this place a only good for one time visit. It’s disappointing. This place should’ve been closed for good. I should have read the reviews before deciding to eat there.

If you are not Chinese or Singaporeans, please re-consider dining in this place. I went to this place with my Caucasian friend today and got some pickles although we didn't order. We thought this is a complimentary dish. Later, we got charged for this (surprisingly, $5). Later, I was told that this restaurant does that to tourists or non-Singaporean/Chinese. Someone might think that we could refuse the pickles (then, the food which was taken out was going to be given to someone else, which is disgusting). They are not doing their business in the correct way because I will never visit this place again. Repent!

Great experience making your own food. Maybe a tutorial will be good for foreigners

Ordered the 20 pc party set for delivery $69.80, the side of prawn balls was nice . Party set did not come with prawns I had to pay $8.80 to top up , it came in ~8-10 pieces , each piece is halve of a prawn. Quite pricey if you ask me . Party set does not come with the crispy bits too you have to add on… but my point …it’s a set so pls make it comprehensive . This style of Hokkien popiah is not the white color of ban kuan n carrot . The popiah filling seems like it has a lot of bamboo shoots and I think it’s mei chai ( the type you find in mei chai kou ruo). It’s acquired taste, not for me .

Check this place out if you don't mind to pay slightly more to get your hands on to roll out some popiah! the taste was alright, but beware their chili is extremely HOT!!! the prawn paste chicken and hokkien mee were not too bad as well.
