Guitar Connection - Peninsula Excelsior #B1-02/03

I had my 30 year old Takamine acoustic repaired by Kelvin recently. The action became too high and as the bridge part is warping up. Kelvin did a great job as always and put double reinforcement in the guitar for the repairs, plus shaved down the bridge to make the action lower and my guitar so much more playable again. During the course of repair he always kept me updated with photos and the processes. Best repair services in Singapore bar none!

Went to Kelvin to fix up my guitar which had a chipped saddle, intonation issues and a rusty fingerboard. He inspected it and recommended lowering the action and getting higher guage strings as well. The action had never bothered me before, but I had always been playing lower guage strings (the lowest I could find) for fear of the tension being too high, so I agreed. Went back about a week after, and what I received was a guitar that was better than brand new. The fingerboard had a shine that had been gone for ages. The saddle was as good as new, and the playability and sound... they were better than they had ever been before. While speaking to him he mentioned, with his impassioned voice, how he'd spent 6 hours working on the fretboard alone. In the process, he'd also found issues with the electronics and fixed them, free of charge. This is not my first time going to Kelvin for guitar repairs, and it won't be my last. All I can say is, he's a man who's truly passionate about making every guitar sound and play to their utmost potential. Trust him and give him the time he needs, and you won't regret it. Sadly, I don't have proper before and after pictures, so I've attached a picture of the rusty tuning pegs to provide some context as to how rusty the fingerboard was.

This is my second repair with Kelvin. The first time was when he fix my classical guitar and make it playable again. This time I went to him to set up my Grand Concert Artwood Ibanez guitar from the 90s. He lowered the action by sanding the bridge (inadvertently revealing the fine looking wood underneath) and reshaped the saddle to get just the right curve. Through it all, I received photo updates of the process and that’s very assuring. Excellent attention to detail. Overall, happy with the set up and thumbs up to Kelvin and his crew at Guitar Connection. Well done.

Heard about Guitar Connection through my guitar teacher who spoke highly of the amazing work that goes into restoring guitars here. True enough, the boss, Kelvin manages to diagnose the issues that were bugging my 10+ years old instrument. I was hesitant and concerned that its beyond salvaging but was reassured by the recommendations put forth. Hearing the assured tone in his voice, I knew my guitar was in good hands. Kelvin took it upon himself to go above and beyond when I next heard his update that he went ahead to help touch it up further in addition to the initial issues; all out of goodwill and pure dedication to his craft to make every guitar that touches his hands shine. Once I collected the guitar and played my first chords, it truly felt reborn and the strings easy on the fingers. Very appreciative of the work that went in and thankful that my music school referred me here to restore my guitar at such great value. Hopefully, my review too will convince someone to bring in their guitar and let Kelvin work his magic and give it a new lease of life.

Was recommended by my guitar teacher to find Kelvin from Guitar Connection to set up my Martin guitar and I have no regrets. I only expected my guitar to be get the basic set up (readjust the action and change strings) but Kelvin went out of his way to make sure that my guitar is really properly done up. There were other repairs he had to do to the guitar along the way which required a lot of work but he did it for me without extra cost and told me that its better to do things right instead of taking a shortcut and getting a subpar repair hence now my guitar really feels comfortable to play and sounds great! Would highly recommend him for your guitar needs, timeline of repairs is reasonable and prices are affordable as well.

Brought my Martin D15 to Kelvin. The body shape was bent, the bridge about to give up… it wasn’t in good shape. Kelvin did an amazing job and really delivered over expectations. What I like working with him is that you can tell you work with a musician and an artist who loves his job. Give him proper amount of time for a job well done and you will be amazed by the result. For me it was like getting a brand new guitar. Thanks Kelvin, and see you again as soon as I need it (I have more guitars… ??)
