Society need injection of compassion! Could Covid-19 reshape our world for the better? Respect is a two way street. I believe it is a basic human need. I’ve been with Dr Lee Hoon Hwee for many years. I feel like a beggar every time I visited her clinic. The average cost per visit are at min $200 up & 3-5k for root canal, crowning etc. Cash or NETS only. I’ve tolerated with all her uppity & rude staff over the years. I guessed it is hard hiring gd ppl due to low wages. Most importantly is the doctor right? Never mind, if she has a temperament, I still like Dr Lee cause she’s able to solve my problems so far. I’m afraid to explore the unknown sourcing for another dentist. I’m expected to pretend I don’t mind waiting everytime I had an appointment prior. Frustrated but I still politely smile & greeted her whenever I stepped into her room. I have a lot of respect for doctors. I will normally book a cab there which cost around $20 afraid I’m late cause is not nice to let the doctor wait. I had a bad tooth since May, due to covid it is difficult to get an appointment. Jane the receptionist said she will call me back but didn’t. They are not hungry for business. SG is so small it is always demand more than supplies anyways. So it dragged on until Nov, the pain became intolerable. I called for an appointment but were told they lost my card. When they found it & said they will squeeze me in. I was so damn glad. Not bad, coronavirus pandemic made them nicer ppl liao. I took a cab, I’m on time but were make to wait an hour, I’m the last patient. The receptionist Jane couldn’t careless, if I leave, they can all go back on time. They seem to be putting more emphasis towards their own convenience and benefits with no consideration for patients at all. It’s not right to make patients wait so long. Though I am no MP, millionaire nor celebrity but that doesn’t mean my time is worthless. Do u not know I have a life that will expire too? The wait could be longer if I didn’t make noise. Yes, for the first time after so many years I show temper; I’m in pain & not sleeping well lately. Too much painkillers. Guess what I’m greeted with? Everyone in sulky mood, all 3 of them; I’m very tempted to leave but I’m desperate, after the long wait I even more wanted it fix cause the next day is a Sunday. Bobian really very pain. Dr Lee took some X-rays & told me she couldn’t fix it cause she don’t do extraction, she then recommended an oral surgeon but he was off for the day. She just told me it’ll cost around $1500 but didn’t explain further. Then she reluctantly do a super quick cleaning & routine check on my teeth. After the long wait & so much humiliation I still went home with the pain. She definitely could do something to relieve my pain like previously but not this time, she want to punish me for not waiting obediently. I work very hard over the weekends and do my research. There were about 851 private & 246 public dental clinics in Singapore. I’ve shortlisted a few. Regretted I didn’t make this effort much earlier & kept clinging on to one Dr Lee. If I have the $ to pay cash every time I’m not a beggar, I deserve better service. Don’t underestimate ppl. Have compassion. Be kind.
