Mar 2019. Hadn't had beef noodle for a long time. Today, we happened to be nearby and wanted to reminisce that stocky Hainanese flavour. I ordered a $4 portion with beef slices only and thick bee hoon (didn't like beef balls). I wanted the dry version because i always liked that glue-ey and thick gravy. Ermm.. It was clinical and not that fantastically good. The beef slices were tough and few and got lost in the otherwise flavorful gravy. The soup tasted diluted. I just loved listening to the stall workers conversed in Hainanese, a forgotten native dialect of mine. Well, may be only today it didn't deserve a 4-star.

Delicious bowl of beef noodles. Beef parts were tender and nicely done. Recommended.

Really enjoyable bowl of traditional old school beef noodle. Brings me back to the old days of eating such dry style beef noodle in cuppage plaza, Scotts picnic foodcourt and Tanglin food court. Gravy is not too thick and goes very well with the kway tiao. Soup is power and beefy. Exceeded my expectations as saw some poor reviews here but I would rate it 4.5 stars. 0.5 stars deducted for the beef slices been cut too small for better 口感。

Beef Noodles (SGD $6) @ Hai Nan Xing Zhou Beef Noodle. . For nearly 70 years, this stall has been drawing queues for their excellent Chinese Hainanese rendition of beef noodles. . Their signature gloopy thick gravy has a distinct sweet savoury salty meaty flavour, with the gravy simmered for hours. Contrast the richness with a splash of lime juice and crunchy pickled mustard greens, lending a zesty tangy sour vegetal note. . The beef is thinly sliced and blanched quickly, resulting in a springy chew to texture. The natural freshness of the beef shines with meaty sweet savoury flavour. . The tripe has a satisfying chew, while the silky thick bee hoon / rice vermicelli noodles picks up the gravy well. The chili is also fairly punchy, which I love mixing in. Expect queues averaging 20 minutes.

28 Apr '22 (Right pic) - The same old uncle hard at work. They try to sustain their prices. For $5, the slices of beef are minute and came with 2 meatballs. Soup was starchy and lacking in their past beefy goodness. Kinda of sad to see it's quality heading downhill. 2021 (Left pic) I stopped going at one stage when the quality was fluctuating. Today's bowl of noodle with beef and balls was as good as their heydays. Albeit, the beef portion has gone down considerably. The gravy was thick and luscious. Soup was rich and flavorful. For $5, it is reasonable.

Ordered their $5 slice beef Kway Teow soup. First impression was it tasted like Vietnamese Pho. It was a small bowl for $5 but made up for it with generous portion of sliced beef.

One of the cheapest beef noodles you can find in Singapore! It's good - the beef slices are still tender and the soup is super gao (it contains all the beef essence from all the cooking of the beef). The sauce is also flavourful and not overly salty. Beansprouts are also fully cooked and not raw (I hate raw beansprouts). Adding chilli and lime are a must. It'll be even better if they added chincharo to the chilli! But either way, it's already still the go-to place for beef noodles. Definitely doesn't lose to Odeon and SO MUCH cheaper!!! They have beef only, or mixed with beef balls, and there are other additions like the tendon etc but I'm not a fan so I usually take beef slices with beef balls.

Chance upon this beef noodle stall the other time i was here for the Minced meat noodle that is located on the same stretch as the lau pat sat minced meat noodle. Noticed a short queue upon reaching but it moved pretty fast. Prices starts from SGD$5 onwards, they have a few combinations like sliced beef with beef balls etc. Went with the sliced beef and beef ball combo, The thick beehoon was drenched with the thick gravy and garnished with a a spoonful of chopped salted vegetable. Gravy was flavorful and has a thick consistency. sliced beef wasn't overcooked. Had to be one of the best dry beef noodle I have tried so far. Overall, above average bowl of Beef noodle but portion is way too small. The thick beehoon was just so little, just a few mouthful thats all.
