I roamed Arab Street just thinking I would do some “window shopping”. I went in to store after store just looking at all of the beautiful rugs. It wasn’t until I met Mohammed at Haji Tawakal store, that I learned about carpets, the craftsmanship, the detail, the regions of where carpets were made, the colors and how this reflected certain regions and people who made these carpets. On two separate occasions he taught me about these beautiful pieces of art. He spent a lot of time with me knowing that I really wasn’t in the market for a carpet. Yet, on my last day, I visited his shop again, and we looked at more carpets and I continued to learn because of his patience, passion and knowledge. As it turns out, I purchased a small, yet beautiful carpet and a foot stool/ ottoman. I know the origin of these pieces and am proud to display them in my home. I don’t know when I will be back in Singapore however in the meantime, I will try to order carpets via phone with Mohammed. I would highly recommend you visit with him while strolling Arab street. He won’t let you down!

mohamed is very attentive and helpful to certain requests we were asking and knew how to pick out certain designs tailored to what we like. so many beautiful designs here & service is good!

Learnt so much about carpets from Mohammad, who was nothing but patient and kind as he explained the different types and how to tell them apart. He offered really good advice, not pushy at all. They have a gorgeous selection, really happy with our purchase.

Stumbled upon this shop while we were carpet shopping, it has a great selection and pretty reasonable pricing. Mohammad was very attentive to what we wanted and recommended us many beautiful pieces. We are happy with our purchase.
