Been here few years back! I must give 5 star for this place as this wasnt something i was expecting. You have to treck on top of the hill to see this tomb. It was quite adventurous. But worth going! Think now its closed.

The Japanese Tomb, a somehow secret in Singapore’s history. Located in the deep forest for of Keppel Hill the Japanese Navy commissioned this tomb in December 1943. (This was during the Japanese of occupation during WWII) All what is known is that it belongs to Komoto Ekasa, a civilian Naval engineer from the Tokyo Imperial University. He worked for MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) and was dispatched to Singapore as a civilian Shipbuilding engineer in March 1942, soon after the Fall of Singapore in February 1942. He died only a few months later due to overwork. Why however will the Army build a Tomb for just one civilian? High up near Mount Faber? Why was he not buried in the Japanese cemetery in Yio Chu Kang? Nearby the Tomb is a remaining structure which but it’s purpose is unclear?

Can't believe this was rediscovered in the last decade. When facing the reservoir/pond (from the side with the diving steps), look to the right and should be able to locate the first flight of steps up. After that, follow markers on trees or just instinctively follow trails uphill. Someone even left a box with lighter and joss sticks at the back of tomb for those who want to pay respect. Looked quite recent.

Walk to end of road, following to left. Follow trail 50m, then follow trail that leads right up hill. Was told by a Japanese friend that the writing is Chinese.

Easy to find from Keppel Hill Reservoir follow the tracks up the hill for about 5 minutes until you come across a brick path. Well worth the effort, its very intriguing.

I need to give 5 stars as this place i magical. I made a mistake of going there from the top and then (really) fighting through the forest no matter some maps were still showing some remains of a path. When I got to the lake it seemed close but still fighting finding the right path and there is only one, really ?. If you want to reach it more easilly go there from down the hill from Coast Hwy in fact and you save your life almost... The tomb is realy nice and the way you enter this place is like Lara Croft hunt through that forest and ruins... see pics of some fun...

Slightly muddy trail heading towards the tomb, with some mozzie. CAUTION is advised if visiting after a downpour due to falling branches.
