TLDR: Don’t think, just queue. Hands down the best wanton mee I’ve had in Singapore. This might be all you need to know! Queue is long, queuing time is long too. You join a general queue and break off to a ordering kiosk momentarily to place your order and to make payment by cash. After which you rejoin the queue and wait your turn to collect the goodies you’ve ordered. On this occasion, it’s a $4.50 portion of the famed char siew wanton mee. Noodles were nice and springy, flavours were amazing. It seems to be a magical mixture of a soy-based mix, lard, braising liquid from the braised mushroom. The oil richness and savoury notes created a lip-smacking experience from start to finish. The supporting casts: char siew was soft and milder in flavour, but absolutely not the rubbish “char siew” that’s typically served with most wanton mee. The fried wantons were fresh, airy and light. The boiled wantons helped keep the entire dish balanced. I really appreciate the handling of the lard - very crispy and because it’s fresh, didn’t have a “smelly oil scent”. The soup was brilliant and frankly, I wish I had thicker skin to beg for seconds. I am certain that I’ll have a terrible headache the next time I’m back cuz I’ll be split between trying something new and going for the sure-win.

You can expect to find a queue for this place. For first-timers, join the people queue first. Do not try and queue in front of the ordering kiosk. When it is your turn to head up to the ordering kiosk, you will be beckoned. I had a small portion of their signature noodles ($4.50) and chicken cutlet noodles ($4.50). I like that the noodles are springy. What stood out for me in the signature noodles was the wanton, which had a more peppery taste. I also enjoyed the soup, which was flavourful and slightly sweet (from the red dates). The chicken cutlet noodle was also delicious. The panko was super crispy and biting into it was such a joy. The chicken meat was also tender. Join the queue, it's well worth the wait.

This is $4.50 portion. The mushrooms and fried lard with shallots add a great texture and taste. The noodles are springy. I added the sambal paste into it (self service) so it is served without chilli. The dumplings too peppery for my liking

My go to stall whenever I am at Hong Lim. I personally like their Chicken Cutlet noodle and Signature Wanton Noodle. Chicken Cutlet taste like KFC, and their noodle is really good. Ingredients given in the Signature Wanton noodle was generous and you can opt for all fried wanton for your noodle. For an average eater, $5.50 portion will fill your stomach

Delicious and affordable Wanton Noodles! Probably one of the best in SG too. Each bowl is individually freshly prepared by the stall owner (Kristen) and it was well worth the wait (~30mins). Had the joy of speaking with Kristen during the food prep and she shared of how she refused to increase the price of the dishes despite rising food prices, and to maintain the support of her loyal customers. Will definitely be back again! (note: only cash payment accepted)

5 stars without a doubt. On day 1, I came here looking for wanton mee, but the chicken cutlet was calling out to me so badly that I ordered the chicken cutlet noodle with curry. Despite what is shown on the menu, the item is actually soup curry noodle, not dry noodle. Auntie explained that customers gave feedback that soup curry more shiok. Feeling slightly disappointed, I took a bite into the chicken cutlet. Instantly, all my doubts were gone. Chicken cutlet noodle with curry: Juicy and crispy at the same time, soaked in thick curry broth, this was an absolute delight. I can only say, every time I come back here, I will order it, if not, order the chicken cutlet as side dish. I love love love it. Day 2, I came back again, with my resolve to try the wanton mee. Well, I was half successful. I ordered wanton mee and added chicken cutlet as my side dish. Wanton Mee (added fried chicken cutlet): Noodle is mixed with the right amount of sauce. It doesn't taste like the traditional wanton mee sauce, but is one that will have me return for it. Char siew is delicious and portion was very generous. The presence of mushroom added a whole new level of flavour. Boiled wanton is perfectly seasoned and meaty. The only thing I didn't like was the fried wanton, but probably because it faced fierce competition from the other fried item in my bowl, the fried chicken cutlet. The clear soup tasted herbal and was very tasty. Overall, one word: SHIOK!

Best Wanton Noodles In Singapore! Everything about Ji Ji’s wanton noodles is just perfect from the charsiew, the sauce, to the soup. And for only around $5 with generous serving its bang for your buck. Charsiew is caramelized and hits that nice balance of sweetness. Noodles so flavourful and has the right amount of springiness. Be sure to bring a lot of patience as you might have to queue for at least 30 minutes. The staff are super friendly and efficient. This food court is in an old estate so it may seem dirty but its actually clean. You have to try this when you visit Singapore.

Ji Ji Noodle Bowl 基记特制面 (with add on Chicken Cutlet) ? Food wise: There are so many things to talk about here because each ingredient tasted so good! The portion was definitely generous! The chicken cutlet was crispy, tender and freshly fried! The chicken skin is super crispy and tasty, delicious but doesn't make one feel sinful. They were ensured to be freshly fried and hot so do be sure to eat it first! The dipping sauce is also a must try! Gives a twist to the flavour, sweet and tangy, pairs with fried food so well! Char siew was sweet and chewy, each of it came in big pieces and they were generous about it! The soup was flavourful and fragrant. Tastes like mushroom soup, it came with red dates and goji berries. Usually, one does not finish the soup, but it was so tasty, just can't help it! There were fried wantons and boiled wantons here. Fried ones were fried to perfection, so crispy and delicious, so mesmerising that it was tempting to order them as a snack! Boiled wantons were delicious too! Noodles were Q, chewy and well sauced. So many good stuff here to pair with the noodles, each bite of each ingredient with the noodles was a different experience!
