Super ThrowBack a surprised food hunt finding along Jalan Besar with my bros. the 鱼头炉 really one of the better ones; served with really fresh loots - red snapper. Got happy hour promo price some more - very reasonable priced food menu I say. AND must really highlight these few - the pork rib surprisingly tender and nice + especially the one with liquor sauce OMG - the spice blend is unique, not tasted elsewhere. - shredded kai lan; messed up my mind - I litereally thought I was eating dried seaweed, simply crispy and tasty - salted egg fish skin, one word FRESH (the shredded kai lan and salted egg fish skin - ADDICTIVE) The crabs were fresh and cooked perfect; in conclusion this restaurant really committed to using quality ingredient and their chef skill is confirmed of top notch. Location: 369 Jalan Besar (Opposite Hoa Nam Building)

Let me simply put it. A pleasant Chinese restaurant that makes you feel welcome the moment you step in. Not to mention the mouth watering choices of local Chinese cuisines. What's not to miss is the (鱼头炉) Chinese Fish Steamboat. In my opinion, no trace of MSG. Sliced fish meat served fresh and tender. I will be back again for sure.

Good food, good service and reasonable prices. You must order the black pepper crab and spicy pork and fish steam boat.

Had dinner at this newly opened restaurant nearby my place a couple of days ago with some frens. 1st Impressions Cosy and simple decor. Nothing too elaborate. Hospitality was definitely above average. Air-conditioning was too strong for my weak body. Thankfully my chinese tea came & i was warmed up quickly enough. 1st Dish - Fish Hotpot Two choices were available. Groupa or pomfret. We went with the groupa. Charcoal heated… Ahhh… Just the way i like it… Soup & fish was served separately… Alot of other places i’ve been to tend to have already put everything in when its served. The fish ended up being overcooked or breaking up in the soup itself during the course of the meal. No such issue happening here. In the dish was standard stuff such as yam, chinese cabbage, seaweed, the fish bone & fins. Other ingredients can be ordered separately. First taste of the soup was pretty balanced. One of my fren’s taste buds was hyper sensitive to msg & he was taking the dish well so it seems that little or none was in there. A dash of tang gui & hua tiao was present but not too strong or too mild. I guess this place did keep in mind that the soup will thicken in flavor with the addition of the fish & other side dishes. 2nd Dish - Prawn Paste Chicken Such a simple dish but not easy to make. Cook too long & meat dries up, too short & there will be too much red. I’m not a big fan of this dish due to the way it was served at other places but this was surprisingly good. The serving was pretty much spot on. Seasoning was balanced, crispy on the outside, tender & juicy inside. Not too much red & not too thick with batter. 3rd Dish - Kailan w/ Fried Scallop The way this was done is pretty unique. The leaves were lightly fried & resembled seaweed. A mouthful of the leaves with the stem was crispy & crunchy at the same time. Not too oily & a little salty if eaten by itself. But have it together with rice & everything blends nicely. 4th Dish - Black Pepper Crab Ahh… A local favorite but almost always done wrong. This place nailed it. Despite the size of the crab, it was very very fresh. The meat came out in whole chunks. Dish was not oily & pepper taste was strong. Size of the shell was pretty much as big as my palm & with a generous amount of roe too. When its being done this well, all our conversations stopped & our plates were quickly filled with shells. 5th Dish - Crispy Toufu This one was very different. The insides are the chef’s signature recipe. He practically reconstructed this dish. No idea what went in there but its kinda like wu xiang on the inside but moist. Crispy outer but thinly fried. A must order. Left satisfied with a happy belly & will surely visit again very soon.
