★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I ordered the Kaiyo Sushi Set and it was excellent. The restaurant was accommodating of my food allergy, which was much appreciated. The nigiri was very fresh and the attention to detail when assembling the set was impressive. The chawanmushi was so silky and well seasoned, easily the best chawanmushi I've ever had.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great Japanese restaurant with top notch quality food. I've been here a few times. This evening I ordered:
- Premium Assorted Sashmi ($58): Generous and fresh cut of sashimi. There are 7 kinds, each comes in three slices.
- Kaiyo Sushi Set ($23): 8 pieces of top grade sushi that comes with miso soup, chawanmushi, and salad.
- Foei gras and unagi roll: My favourite. Generous serving of foei gras on top of the rolls.
I did a walk in and was fortunate I could get a table. Usually I'd make a reservation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sashimi and tempura rice bowl were decent. The iberico pork, at its price, was unfortunately underwhelming (last photo). Overall ambience is great and is a hidden gem for quality Japanese food at Kovan/Serangoon

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very amazing dinner, loved the food. Service was great as well. Must get a reservation beforehand else you’re only limited to 1 hr dining time as space is limited. Definitely will recommended and will come back here again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice stand-alone Japanese restaurant in Serangoon. Fresh fish and well grilled/prepared cooked food. Also extensive sake menu. Was quite good value for money given the quality of produce and attentive service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was tasty and service was relatively quick. Selection is not a lot but good enough for a causal dinner. Quite a nice choice if you don’t wish to travel to town. Might need to make reservations during peak hours though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic lunch. It was definitely an enjoyable meal in the heartlands. Food ingredients were fresh, seating was well spaced out. Service level is good. Recommended for people who likes Japanese cuisine.

The prices are on the higher side but worth every penny for the freshness of the ingredients.
