This review is based firstly on the Wagyu Don. It is the biggest waste of Wagyu as the dish has so many competing flavours. The beef flavour is totally over powered by truffle oil (no truffle bits at all), rice saturated with sauce and Sakura Ebi. The service staff told me to mix everything together which I didn’t do as it’s not claypot rice! Wagyu was tender but flavour was overpowered by the truffle oil. Uni (3 pieces) was past it’s prime. The caviar and gold flake (pretentious maybe?) could not save the day. Your $80 is better spent elsewhere. My partner had the Omakase and the service was very rushed and sushi was forgettable. Perhaps if this is your first time at a quality sushi restaurant, you may not know that every fine sushi establishment age their fish, they don’t crow about it because it’s a given. Do yourself a favour and save up for a proper Omakase meal instead of this place. - Ps. The flash cards for the types of fish is kinda cute for kids but not for an Omakase restaurant.

As it’s our first time here, the staff recommended we tried the Omakase Kiri (I think that the name) which was the middle range - appetiser, 7 type of sushi, hot dish, soup and dessert, total of 19 different bits of food. Good thing we made reservations as it is a really small place. Can’t imagine when the previous SMM was in place how they managed to do business. Also we got the table (I think it’s the only table seating!!). But if you like to see how the chef prepares the food then counter should be it. Honestly reading the mixed reviews for this place gave us some jitters. But our experience turned out well as you can see from the lovely pix. The staff were attentive and knew the dishes and ingredients well. I like that they have pictures of the fishes and names as each dish was presented to us. One suggestion would be to laminate those cards as they tend to get dirty and don’t look too presentable. A shame when it’s a really good idea cos other Omakase place would just rattle off what you are eating and you won’t remember after. Another minus is the place is small and if you get a rowdy party of 5 the noise builds up. And you feel like you are in a izakaya and not an upmarket place. But do try out this place if you are looking for a mid range Omakase with a range of season items.

Absolutely enjoyed our first omakase here! We had the lunch menu and as people that usually the aged fish here were really palatable! Did the $35 top up for the Maze Chirashi and no regrets really! Everything was fresh and top-notch. Thank you Chef Peter for making our experience fantastic - will definitely be back to try the dinner menu

Brought my bestie for lunch here as bday celebration and this place did not disappoint! We chose the $88++ omakase set and the selection and quality of sushi and sides was good! Definitely worth it. Will visit again

Kee Lun is an excellent chef who taught us a lot about the sushi we ate as well as impressed us with the order of food served and the quality of even sushi that you can find in the marketplace. A delight to visit and I would love to recommend anyone wanting to try their first omakase at this restaurant! For timing, I came on Saturday 1:45 PM, apart from one couple we otherwise got exclusive counter service. Duration was at 90 minutes, but we did it in 65 minutes. My companion took the Aoi option and I took the Kashiwa option.

Hopefully someone will see my post and decide whether to eat at this place or not. We had lunch here on a weekday. Firstly, the fish was all precut. That already ruined the omakase experience, as proper omakase is prepared piece by piece. Every piece was rushed, the preparer clearly can tell if the customer is still eating but choose to prepare the next piece nevertheless. As others have remarked, there is way too much sauce brushed onto the sushi drowning out the fish's taste. The fish was alright except the uni. The uni had bits of grit in it. The person who prepared the uni sushi also tasted the uni and told us it was normal to have grit in it. Nuff said about this place. The person who prepared our sushi was loud, obnoxious, and told off his staff in front of us customers behind the counter. To top off the negative encounter, he also badmouthed other omakase Japanese places which are heaps better than this. Totally out of place for a Japanese omakase place. It was an unpleasant lunch experience. Service by waitstaff: 2 Service by counter staff: 0 Food: 0 (Uni has grit in it) Ambience: 4

This was my first time trying aged sashimi omakase. It was surprisingly good and the price was reasonable. It was really a great experience watching the chef preparing our food. Also the chef was really friendly and shared a lot of his knowledge regarding the food. Highly recommended and will definitely go back again.
