Came here based on the good reviews. Ordered a $4 portion and the serving size is average. But taste is pretty awesome.

Firstly there is a queue for this stall, but it clears pretty fast. Ordered the $3 portion with chilli. Price vs portion wise its cheap. Very hard to find Char Kuay Tiao at $2.50 base price. Taste wise it was flavorful with strong sweet sauce taste. But the wok hei flavour was almost non existing. Therefore it doesn't taste like it's being fried in a wok. Also it is pretty wet and oily. Its kinda slightly too wet for my taste. Overall its pretty ok, but i feel its not worth the trouble to go all the way + long queue there for this dish

while the char kway teow is usually above average, the plate i had today was very disappointing. i could only bear to finish half the plate. the kway teow and mee were undercooked and very hard to bite through. the taste of the sauce was not infused into the noodles. it is a slipshod frying effort by an elderly uncle- i believe usually the frying is done by an elderly auntie, who is likely far more skilled. so i would warn you to take note of who’s cooking before ordering

This is my favorite fried kwayteow. At only $2.50 or $3, the portion is big. I especially like the right dampness, which is not oily too. The taste is just right. I think it's about the sweet dark soy sauce they used. The otah at $1 each is also just nice to go with the plate of kwayteow. There's always a long queue during lunch hours. However, be assured the wait wouldn't be too long.

First time visit here and saw the long queue. We are undaunted and decided to join. Not disappointed at all as the queue moved quite fast because the char kway teow was fried in batches. We ordered $3 serving plus $1 for their otah. Generous with cockles. Well fried, not too dry or too wet, just nice. This place is recommended. We want to come back again to this market and explore further.

Favourite char kway teow stall. Prices had gone up a little $3 and $4 portions now after the few months of renovations at shunfu. Seating has changed. CKT still taste as good. Just my thing. Taste is so subjective.

❌ Don’t understand what’s the hype with this. Totally no wok hei and doesn’t have the sweet taste that ckt should have. The only saving grace is that the portions are quite good for the price - $2.50, $3, $4 and $5. The $2.50 suffice as I couldn’t finish my $3 plate (probably cos it’s nothing nice). However, the lady taking orders is rather sarcastic and rude. It was my first time coming here and I ordered a small and a big plate, not knowing what are the price options. She was sarcastic in her reply asking how big I want and went on and on. When I asked what are the options, she wouldn’t even bother to say what they were and just pointed me to the board and asked me to look at it myself. There was no queue and I was the only one ordering! Subsequently, an older lady customer came and ordered as well and this rude staff was curt with her as well. I will definitely not return for this ckt. My main gripe is rude hawkers, no matter how good the food is. Plus this isn’t any good anyway. Don’t waste your time and calories.

Char Kway Teow (SGD $3) @ Lai Heng Fried Kuay Teow & Cooked Food. . Now in the hands of the 4th generation since its founding just after World War II, they've been consistently serving a family-recipe wet savoury sweet version of char kway teow paired with otah(!). . Tossed with dark sweet soy sauce, gooey egg, and crisp bean sprouts, the kway teow / wide flat rice noodles and cylindrical yellow wheat noodles take on a moist slippery oily texture, with robust savoury sweet salty eggy flavour. . Garnished with tender fish cake, crisp chye sim / chinese flowering cabbage, juicy blood cockles, and chewy lup cheong / dried cured pork sausage, the glisterning plate is a greasy yet delicious mess. . Regulars seem to like pairing it with their SGD $1 otah grilled in banana leaf, which lends a spicy sweet kick.
