★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This #hkm stall imo can hold its own against the more famous hkm stall in this Serangoon North area.
And best is they are open earlier and longer hours till evening.
Expertly fried by that big young chap in the pic, hkm is semi-wet gooey version, with a strong prawn stock flavour. The chup is so tasty making the mee so yummy! Nice fresh prawns and lots of sotong.
And yes! The bright orange sambal belachan chilli is very power ???!

I belongs to black ctk camp. The black ctk hv the kind of old school favor. I like it.
The hokkian mee not bad. As compared to bearby famous ah dee... At least this one open earlier and queue shorter. At times i felt the rival stall ah dee is slightly over rated due to long queue. Honestly try this one instead. Really not bad.
Sorrry today i came, still ordered my black ctk with extra egg. Asked for extra burnt (chaotar), love the old school taste and smell like their previous stall old couple version. Give this stall a chance, they have chance to be better.

I like the hokkien Mee. The broth and wet texture makes it nice. The only thing lacking is the chilli.
It is too spicy and not suited for hokkien Mee.
If they use a good enough chilli, would have rated it 5.
Also tried their carrot cake. It's the slightly drier and slightly wok hei kind. Not as crispy as menu shows.
It used to be good but I guess now it's average?
Nevertheless will still come again if I'm nearby and don't have much options
