★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had steamed chicken, it was quite nice! Soup was a bit salty to me.
Staff are very nice and polite. I like this restaurant!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great experience with perfectly cooked hainanese chicken rice, steam is good but soy sauce is better to me. There is also a really nice Vietnamese waitress serve us very well ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very avg chicken rice, the chicken was slightly on the dry side and not alot of favour or fragrant, maybe it’s because I didn’t asked for the thigh meat (but good chicken rice should have good breast meat too). Rice is good, just over al dente with good favour and not too oily. Sauce is decent but the favour is more subtle compare to other chicken rice sauce, not everyone cup of tea. However, it’s in a much cleaner environment with A/C compare to other famous chicken rice shop, but that’s about it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a great memory of this place especially the roast chicken. But after ~20 years, it wasn't as good as I remembered. Ironically, I liked the wanton noodles more than the chicken rice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was searching for an alternative to the renovated food centre nearby and chanced upon this chicken rice store, and decided to drop by to give it a shot despite a famous one nearby.
Ordered the set meal which came in at $9, decent portion of meat, coupled with vegetables and a bowl of soup - okay value.
? Chicken didn’t seem super fresh, across both steamed and roasted chicken, a tinge of roughness in the meat across all meat types (“siap siap” as many would call it)
? wasn’t very fragrant, was even a little salty to some..
? the sauces were good, had to eat the chicken across all 3 sauces to be passable - then again spoilt by the feel of the chicken..
Prawn roll was okay when paired with the sauce, nothing to shout about.
? the only thing that’s nice, bites right off the stem, paired with a decently mixed oyster sauce
Probably won’t look to return given the quality and price point..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chicken Rice (SGD $9) @ Loy Kee Chicken Rice.
.
This heritage brand has a history stretching back to 1953, known for their generous set meal which is balanced and filling.
.
Their roast chicken is a stand out, bouncy springy tender juicy with meaty sweet savoury flavour. The fluffy rice, fragrant with garlic and chicken broth, has a lovely grainy sweet savoury flavour that complements.
.
The crunchy fresh kai-lan / Chinese broccoli picks up the salty savoury notes of the thick oyster sauce, while the braised egg lends an eggy sweet note.
.
The trinity of dipping sauces; dark sweet soy, chili, and crushed ginger, round out this satisfying meal, yum.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered 2 pax meal for $17, fried tofu $6.50. You can choose a mix of two types of chicken (white vs roasted vs soy sauce). Chicken rice was surprisingly not flavourful compared to the average hawker stall. The chicken (both white and roasted) also tasted decent and there's no wow-factor. Price is slightly on the higher end given the quantity too.
