Even though Lynnette is not a professional cook, it is obvious that she's a seasoned one and a consummate host. From her cosy, well-appointed living room and dining space to the quality ingredients and delicious food, Lynnette's kitchen is a culinary experience akin to visiting a long-lost relative who has prepared a feast for your first meeting. In particular, the Bakwan Kepiting and the assam snapper with pineapples are a standout even for someone who dislikes all things assam. My friends and I would definitely be back!

Lynnette was an impeccable host: warm, generous (with both the copious portions and fascinating stories from her storied and decorated career as lead violinist with the SSO), a picture of grace and elegance. Don't let the salty comments of some sad and small minded woman further down this page deter you. Some delusional and entitled people really haven't the slightest conception of the time and labor that goes into heritage cuisine. But I digress. This is some of the most lovingly and precisely executed Peranakan food you will ever taste in Singapore, and in a relaxed, private and thoroughly convivial setting to boot. The tender grilled jumbo squid stuffed with glutinous rice studded with mushrooms and chinese sausage really sang when paired with Lynnette's tangy homemade vinaigrette with just a touch of raspberry vinegar. Her bakwan kepiting shone with its clear and sweet chicken broth and fresh bamboo shoots, the meatballs plump with flavor. Assam snapper with pineapple was firm and fresh from nearby Tiong Bahru market, with a sauce of impressive delicacy. Slow braised Lamb shoulder rendang had great flavor in the meat blanketed with a finely balanced rempah with no pools of oil that result from hastier mass market preparations. Her sambal goreng with tempeh was elevated by Thai chai poh that had a sweet, cleaner flavor than the Chinese variety and extra crunch from diced water chestnuts. And after that succession of rich flavor there is her chendol with unctuous homemade gula melaka ice cream. My first time and already raring to return. Thank you Lynnette for a stunning meal and one of the most enjoyable evenings I've had in a while. ?✨

An absolutely sumptuous private dinner served up by cultural medallion winner and acclaimed SSO violinist Lynnette Seah. Started well w a Bakwan Kepiting soup w tender pork meatball w crab, prawns, bamboo shoots in a tasty broth. Then it went up several notches w the Braised Crab Beehoon - loved the fresh massive Sri Lankan crabs and beehoon soaking up the amazingly rich crustaceany broth. Prob my fav of the night. But things didn't go downhill after (even when we were actually a little full by then - the mains came, with Assam Pedas Prawns with pineapple, Chap Chye and Beef Shin Rendang. Again, blown away by the fork tender Beef Rendang in the rich rempah which was just so shiok to eat w the brown rice Nasi Lemak and the blue pea-coloured Nasi Ulam, which we didn't order but the chef wanted us to try and we loved. Ended off w a wonderful Chendol with homemade coconut gula melaka ice cream, and again, we were treated to an encore of her Bubur Cha Cha, that we thought was even better than the Chendol we ordered. Wonderful dinner served by a wonderful chef/host, whom we had a great time chatting with. Certainly looking forward to our next visit.

I ate at Lynnette’s Kitchen twice recently. On both occasions, she was very hospitable and served excellent food. Our favourite was stuffed squid with glutinous mushroom rice with balsamic vinegar & olive, Asam pineapple snapper and buah keluak pork ribs. The squid was cooked just right, soft and chewy with fragrant rice well paired with the tangy sauce. Both the Asam snapper and pork ribs were not oily, something I appreciate. The snapper was very fresh, bought from Tiong Bahru market that morning, while the pineapple Assam fish was not overpowering with chilli and well balanced. Lynnette has chosen her cut of the pork ribs well, for they fall off the bones, and well marinated. Good job, Lynnette!

Always a joy to dine at Lynnette’s kitchen when new sedaplicious dishes are always presented . Her repertoire is amazing. Lynnette is also generous with the servings and uses too quality & often home-made sauces & ingredients. Her Popiah spread is very well done and so memorable and I would highly recommend it to all my friends.

We had a special and memorable meal at Lynnette’s Kitchen last weekend! The food was superb and cooked with love - everything was amazing, but the jumbo Sri Lankan crab beehoon was definitely one of the highlights for us! All of us were (happily) stuffed to the gills even before the night ended :) We also enjoyed swapping stories and experiences with Lynnette throughout the course of the meal - thank you for hosting us, Lynnette - we hope to be back soon!

My friends and I had a wonderful dinner at Lynnette's Kitchen a few weeks ago - definitely one of the best meals I've had in Singapore. Lynnette's food is delicious and impeccably made, and she is a gracious host who notices every detail and makes a true effort to make her guests feel welcome. I would highly recommend Lynnette's Kitchen to anyone who visits (or lives in) Singapore.
