Food is nice, the serving is not too heavy. Sashimi is fresh, same goes to the sea urchin. But while wanting to take order, the waitress just suddenly walk off while serving us half way. Most likely due to under staff and she had to run about.

The sashimi was so fresh you'd think you're eating in Hokkaido! We were spoilt for choices. What we picked was outstanding. I had the tuna collar and it was grilled to perfection. And the special 3 cut Maguro sashimi tasted superb. Service was quick and friendly. Everything was outstanding. We will be back for lunch soon.

Headed to Suntec City Tower 3 for a meal at a place well known for their Maguro (Japanese for Tuna). Maguro Donya at Suntec City, within the Eat 7 Concept Area, and their sister restaurant Kuro Maguro at Guoco Tower and Maguro Brothers at 100AM aims to serve high quality Maguro sourced from their own home port of Miura Misaki Port in Tokyo. When they first setup in Singapore, they got a shock of their lives as Singaporeans were eating more raw Salmon and little to no Tuna. Tuna is a highly sought after fish in Japan and is often seen as a delicacy. The shock the Maguro Donya restaurant group had is largely due to the fact that in Japan, Salmon is rarely served as sashimi or Sushi as the Pacific Salmon that is endemic in Japanese fishing grounds are afflicted with parasites making the flesh not suitable to be eaten raw but with no issues if fully cooked. It took Maguro Donya group almost a year before they started having Salmon as sashimi on their menu sourced from Atlantic Salmon bred in Hokkaido and Norway. This increased their clientele in Singapore, although they still have a huge diehard clientele of Japanese expatriates and palate-encompassing locals who visit just for the Tuna. Started the meal with the star of the meal, the Otoro Don Set. The slivers of Otoro were melt in your mouth heaven, pairing really well with the rice and seaweed strips. The next dish was the Hokkai Don Set. This set showcases the best cuts of sashimi that the restaurant has to serve and it was a wonderful dish to enjoy. A great dish to introduce those who have not tried sashimi before or for those who would like to have the best that is available. Next up was the Maguro Megumi Set. This set allowed one to try the various styles of preparation of the Blue Fin Tuna. The firmness of the Akami Sashimi, the great mix of the Aburi Maguro with its flame broiled surface and raw center, and the wonderful flavours of the Grilled Tuna Cheek. Definitely an eye opener for someone not familiar with Maguro. Had a side of Anago Nigiri Sushi which paired really well with the rice and sweet sauce. As there were already past trips to the Maguro Donya group, the meal was able to enjoy a wonderful 30% discount on Monday visit given that I had already qualified as a J-Passport Gold Member for the Maguro Donya group of restaurants. Had always wanted to visit Maguro-Donya for their tuna, because it's so difficult to just get a good cut of red tuna in Singapore. We are pleasantly surprised with just how good the food is here. It's amazing. Every bite is an explosion of flavour in your mouth, and paired with sake recommendations from the staff, mhmm.... The service is excellent, with great vibes. If you do not know what to order, speak to the staff for their recommendations! ?

One of the best places to eat quality Maguro and other tuna cuts in Singapore. Good value & high quality! ? Food: Generous cuts of fresh sashimi paired with perfectly cooked fragrant sushi rice. The only drawback on food being the limited sushi selection since they focus on tuna. ? Ambience: Nice, clean Japanese decor. ? Service: Excellent! Staff kept refilling our green tea without having us to ask for it ??

It’s very fresh and the slices and cuts are generous for the sashimi. Have been here many times. A regular here and will keep coming for fresh quality sashimi, only thing is the smell of cooking is strong within the restaurant, without that it’ll be perfect
