Malayan Leather Craft (Singapore) - 685 Race Course Rd

The first time I went to Malayan Leathercraft, it was just out of curiosity, as I was interested to see if it was possible to make a leather quiver ( I practice archery). I wasn't expecting to go there dozens of times over the few past months, I wasn't expecting to fall in love with leathercraft, and I wasn't expecting to be able to make my own quiver and even handbags. The experience is just fantastic: Gary would need himself a full review but to make it short he is a man who loves life and sharing his knowledge, getting to know him is enough of a reason to go visit the shop, the choice of leather is simply huge (from goat to monitor lizard through ostrich, horse, snake, toad and even fish!) , the superior quality of the leather and the tools can't be denied, and the friendly atmosphere with people casually coming in, asking and sharing tips, crafting sometimes on the workshop is just unique. A casual visit to this family-sized shop turned into an addictive and 'real' hobby and into a few friendships as well :) Thank you.

I enjoyed the expertise of the staff, as well as the wide range of leathers available. The shop is wonderfully tucked under a HDB along race course road, its quaint and rustic charm adds to the overall experience. Would highly recommend.

Had an amazing and wholesome experience at Malayan. Going through uncertainty and doubt after buying my first piece of leather from them, I decided to go for their beginner class and had an worthwhile experience. Thanks to PJ and his wealth of knowledge on leather, he helped guide and kickstart my journey on leather crafting. Hope to come back for more and share my finished products. Cheers

A great place for leather supplies and crafts! They have a wide range of leather and tools to choose from. Gary took the time to understand what I wanted and suggested lots of tips and insights into leather crafting. He was very patient and even gave a hands-on demonstration to illustrate the techniques. It has become one of my favourite leather shops to go to! 10/10 would recommend to anyone interested in leather crafting!

Prior moving to Australia, i purchased a fare bit of things from them from hides to tools. Had a good impression of their Buffalo hides so decided to dodge the high shipping cost of $134. Highly anticipated hides came today but turned out to be a huge disappointment & frustration. With so much trust given to them, i was returned with horrendous quality hides (but the boss thinks it's not a bad one) that no where i can use it for my business. Topping on to the disappointment, i was given 2 options, refund or return and of course shipping will be under my expense. To be honest, it doesn't make any sense to at all. It feels like I'm taken for a ride, given something that they claimed to be good but in the actual fact the wastage is at least 60% or more. I'm force to accept & pay for something i can't use at all. It's such a horrible experience. I definitely won't continue my business with Malayan without a doubt. I believe long term business is all about human touch, integrity & honesty. Unfortunately I can't find any of that from Malayan. If you are reading this for your leather supply, you may want to look elsewhere.

I’m a complete beginner to leather crafting and was looking for a place to get a leather crafting starter kit and tips on how to get started. So fortunate to meet Kenneth who gave great tips and recommendations on types of leather I could work with as well as the tools I needed as a beginner (and stuff that could wait for later once I got the basics down). 10/10 will be back, thanks so much Kenneth for the great tips and introduction to leather crafting!
