β β β β β Generous portions but fa too vinegary for my liking, noodles were also a little soggy. Also a little pricier than the average bcm bowl. There were no queues on a friday and it was very easy to find seats

β β β β β Nice food but always long queue for seat and food. Not easy for parking. Easy access by bus and MRT, bus stop right in front and MRT Station is steps away. 24 hours operation.

β β β β β Bak Chor Mee (SGD $6) @ Ming Fa.
.
What I like about this place is the decently reliable quality across visits, and the ease of customisation when ordering.
.
This chain has been operating for well over 10 years, but their main outlet still draws a near constant queue during peak periods.
.
The mee pok / wide flat egg noodles have a slight al-dente chew, picking up the slick yet punchy gravy, strong with sour savoury flavour, and just a tad of spicy on the back.
.
The pork meat balls are juicy with a satisfying chew, the minced pork is fresh with meaty savoury sweet flavour, and the lettuce is fresh and crisp.
.
The tender braised mushrooms have a juicy earthy salty savoury note. Enhanced with prawns which lend a premium feel.

β β β β β Quality remains consistent for the past couple of years for my orders on food delivery platforms. Noodles are springy and doesnβt take of alkaline. Flavours are on point and special instructions are followed accordingly. We especially fancied the Thai tofu as a side dish.
Dined in a couple of times and service was also pretty brisk and good from the lovely guys.
Drop in for a visit and you wonβt be disappointed.

β β β β β I had this Bak Chor mee many times and standard is consistent. Vinegary bowl of Bak Chor mee with flavourful soup. Portion was good with tender pork liver in it and the mince meat also fresh. They also have other side dishes like ngoh hiong and chicken cutlet or fish cakes. This place is sometimes crowded. A lot of people come here for supper as they open till late. They accept epay which is convenient.

β β β β β You will find lots of store selling Mince pork noodle and ε°η’ι’, but this Ming Fa never fail me. The topping was generous and selected good quality of slices meat, pork meat ball, mushroom . What I missed from the old version was the dry seaweed on top . Fast service . Always crowded. Close to The House of Prata . Open till late nite .

β β β β β Ming Fa used to be my go-to comfort food when I crave Fuzhou fishballs. Unfortunately, the taste of these fishballs has changed. First, instead of handmade fishballs, it is machine-made. The all too familiar generic taste of machine battered fishballs flowed through with each bite. In a handmade version, the flavour is more dynamic and springier. Second, the gravy and the pork encased in each Fuzhou fishball had no taste. It tasted rather bland. Lastly, the broth was too salty for my liking; if using the soup to enhance the flavour of the fishballs, then it was a complete failure.
Overall, it is unlikely I will ever revisit this place. I walk away feeling disappointed. However, Ming Fa is still an icon along this stretch of Upper Thomson Road. You should still try it.

β β β β β My favourite fish ball of all time is good here. Springy but still feel natural. They also have the Fuzhou fish ball with meat filling. The soup that comes with the noodle is fabulous too! Full of goodness in the broth. I also typically buy some of their frozen fish balls after a meal there.
Parking can be a hassle.
